Garmin Edge 705 and Mapping Software

Change the filename of the .img file, there is a naming convention.
gmapsupp.img
gmapsup2.img

When I get a minute I'll have to go through the process it took me to get my 3 maps on mine, dealing with the 705 gives me similar eye stabbing stress as my iphone 😀
 
Playing with the 800 and uploaded the nj topo map, works fine but not as good as Lukes looks. Any updates on the process Luke??
 
I've been using the garmin topo maps and the cloudmade maps on my 800, what I'm missing is how to layer my made park gpx maps properly. I can't seem to get the complete park gpx file UNDER the loop gpx I want to use. It keeps putting the larger park gpx on top,so I can't see the loop gpx as it's underneath. On the 705 it was alphabetical order, on the 800 that doesn't seem to do anything. Hmf
 
Sorry if this is already known , but thought I'd share that Mapsource TOPO ver 3.02 can be downloaded to multiple devices, no unlock codes required. You can also make copies of the disk set.
 
A little help

I just got a 605 and I'm trying to begin by loading the NJ Topo following Norm's wiki instructions. I downloaded Mapsource and the latest updates for the unit. I think I'm following each step but I get stuck at #6. I don't have any maps in any dropbox. Am I missing a step?

not dropbox. "Drop Down Box" you should be able to select the map you downloaded. from a drop down box. a drill down menu.

Are you using Windows 7 64bit? If so, I ran into the same problem on my laptop.

Hmmmm....

I just picked up a 800 this weekend and just starting to read into these threads and the wiki for information. BTW, thank you for the video instruction you created, I'm sure I'll be referring to that once I start creating routes/custom GPXs.

Question, which topo are you currently using?
 
I use the one from cloudmade, or the garmin one. The cloudmade one is free. You can put both on and alternate them if you want.
 
Edge 705

AHHH this is killing me ... I soo hate technology... Maybe I just need to learn how to use this thing... Im sitting here clueless after trying to read this entire thread... and Now the 800 is out, Does anyone still have these files for the 705? I tried to click on a few links in the thread but no luck the pages have been taken down
