P&P should never be allowed to talk in public again. CVdV and Tim Johnson would be ok. Carlton Kirby, Magnus and Sean Kelly are the way to go over at Eurosport. But even there, yup, it's B-Team right now.
The reason they never mention TJ is, um, TJ. Why do you think Rhis picked up Porte?
I still like to hear Phil on the broadcasts. I know he screws up all the time but to me he is still the voice of cycling

I feel the same way. it just doesn't sound right without those 2. It's like a Yankee game without Michael "I'm not a homer" Kay calling it. At least we don't have to deal with Bobke.

Bobke's a tool. On this we are agreed. I gave up on Phil when I realized I could paste the bulk of his boosterish crazy-uncle commentary from one race onto another without noticing much difference. Also, and not to drag us into a Lance-hole here, but Phil's investment, with Armstrong, in Paul Sherwen's South African mining venture was fairly shocking. And Paul's relentless monotone reading of the tourist brochures provided to him by the event organizers drives me insane. (Didn't help when he ran out of brochure and started REPEATING the info about Fort Collins on Saturday. I was ALMOST put out enough to ride outside!)

Where is the info about Paul Sherwin? The article linked is only about Phil.

Personally, I don't mind them, mainly because my wife loves to hear their voices whcih is probably the only way I can get to watch the sport at a normal hour. I also fast forward so much that I miss most of their mumbo jumbo.

Here ya go. (Also third para from the bottom of the other article.) I watch the races in real time (#hamster), so after a while they jam my head with so much palaver I drool more than usual, which leads to slipping off the rollers and crashing into the printer. They're dangerous.

agree, once you go Eurosport you can't go back. Even euros b squad is better.

Rough day at the Vuelta, TJ disappoints yesterday and crashes out today. Martin was looking in form and crashes out too. To top it off Sagan is taken out by a race vehicle but we did get a little show from that.

Dayum, promised brutal stage blew it apart today with Tom Dumoulin still in the mix, is this even possible? The big names are trying to get greedy with more than one stage race win and they are biting it hard.

The big names are dropping out of this race on a daily basis. TDF this is not.
Exactly, in many ways it is better. TDF is the biggest race, biggest names, fastest sprints but not necessarily the best race to watch because the super teams control it so well.

From a watching standpoint, the Vuelta has been excellent this year and 12 stages in the GC could still be shaken significantly. Aside from the Alpe stage in the tour this year, from a GC perspective, nothing happened after the first week until the second to last stage. Boring sauce.

On that note, apparently Froome is the most frail person in the peleton as whenever he crashes, he breaks.

Also keep in mind that people have planned exits from the Vuelta to prepare for worlds. I am not sure if Sagan was planning to abandon but the motorbike incident accelerated that. The last 3 years of the Vuelta have really redefined this race.

Gotta admit I'm late to the party on the Vuelta. It's like that fun guest that shows up as the party is winding down and everyone's got their coats on. That said, it's been pretty cool to follow, even glancingly, this year. And what the effing hell is wrong with Degs? Giant Alpecin did everything in their power to burn their guys out early, and then Degs gets stuck behind a minivan full of slow. That sprint was a freaking crawl. There was no way he should have lost it. Except that he MAY be a moron.
And yes, I agree, this has been more fun than the TDF already.

One of the other sprints he was stuck just like that too but at least snuck out at the end however still came I. 2nd. I mean, Trek on two sprint stages, TWO. In what world does trek win without Cancellera.

Speaking of, Fabian out of the worlds because even he knew he wasn't going to win.

I have not looked at the remainder of the stages but Aru is prone to Austrlian style bad days in the mountain so we will see. I think the exciting part of the Vuelta is that the up and comers get to fight it out because the big boys either aren't there or went home.

Agreed. I'm not familiar with most of these names, and am bored to tears with the ones I know. Chaves and Dumoulin were amazing. I'm gonna go look at the route map now. I'm recalling that Dumoulin is a devastating TT'r.

Very true. It's nice to watch a race where the leader can change on a daily basis.

Exciting Day for the Vuelta and the last few stages are been great with Aru and Rodriguez attacking to try and distance Dumoulin, who they all fear in today's TT. It would be nice to see Purito stick in there after taking the red jersey yesterday, which was well timed for a boost in today's TT. Majka will likely get bumped off the podium, just curious to see who is on the top 2 steps.

ESP 1 RODRIGUEZ OLIVER, Joaquim (KATUSHA) 67:52:44
ITA 2 ARU, Fabio (ASTANA) + 1
POL 3 MAJKA, Rafal (TINKOFF - SAXO) + 1:35
NED 4 DUMOULIN, Tom (GIANT - ALPECIN) + 1:51
