Bos just got faster.

I found his quote a little curious. I'm new to this whole scene but are all these guys whiney bitches?

Thor is going to whine on BMC, IMO.

And Gilbert is down to 2, 1 of which is BMC? That's going to work out just great if it comes to that.

"The partnership with Mark will help me in my development." That quote? He's probably a bit threatened. Not a lot of love for him after tossing Daryl Impey into the barriers in Turkey last season and just 4 wins this year, so...

Thor has been shooting his mouth off for a while now. My favorite is the stuff about being there for his teammates and then going after Vaughters when a teammate won PR. Not pretty coming from one of the "good guys". (He was Jens's best man fer Chrissakes!)

As for Gilbert, even though he and Thor train together and are bestest pals, it seems like that might be too much both financially (Thor's apparently getting 2+ million. PG would be worth much more.) and internally. He'd whine. I think Cadel may have merited a raise as well. Also, if PG wins worlds, he's gonna have a clause in his contract that means more money (just like Thor did and Vaughters spent a lot of time trying to pay, even having to reach out for a another second tier sponsor). Can BMC afford that?

It's hard to be Thor lately. Cadel, from an interview with the Australian press via Velonation:

I said: ‘Look Jim, you want to bring a sprinter to the team, I don’t want to ride with a sprinter, because I’ve done that and I’ve done my share. If I do the Tour I want to do it for the win. I was fairly clear about that and Jim was accepting of that, so it’s under that basis that Thor comes to our team.

On another, happier note, DS Alan Peiper is heading to Garmin! I hear that train a'comin...

USAPCC Previews

Anybody watching the USAPCC Previews before each stage on Versus? They are great behind the scenes footage at the race. They really focus on the American teams plus the schlecks. Some of the footage is hilarious, like a 15 sec clip of the Leopard director( forgot his name) flipping through pages of the race book, while driving, and Schleck is just cruising along next to the car? Not sure how he is keeping the car straight while using two hands to look through the race book.

So how do Thor and Gilbert survive on a team together? Not to mention with Cadal? Obviously BMC just beefed up their Classics team, where they also have Phinney. Should make for a good classics season for them.

Despite how weirdly distended it makes the team look, esp. now with Tejay VanGardeblargenvargen on as well (which may freak Phinney out), Thor and Gilbert are great friends and train together constantly, so they have to have figured out how to make things go before the agents did their thing. Figure Thor for the bumpy ones, Gilbert for the Ardennes. But Cadel is also strong as hell in Spring, so where that leaves them on that front, who knows. Also, I'm not sure what this is gonna do to the team re: next year's Tour. Gilbert is gonna be a GC contender at some point. And he was a hell of a lot of fun to watch for a while there this year. But his only concern on Lotto was making sure Greipel was happy-ish. Other than that, he was free to play. With Cadel, who's a serious task-master domestique-wise, it could be less fun. It's gonna be a LOT of fun to watch, however it turns out.

Did you see this: Radio Shack and Leopard-Trek will merge

- Johan Bruyneel will be the sporting director of the new organization.
- team will be rebranded as RadioShack-Nissan-Trek Professional Cycling Team.

-Time trial world champion Fabian Cancellara, Andy and Fränk Schleck will continue with the team for the 2012 and 2013 season, according to Becca.

- They will be joined by RadioShack’s Chris Horner, Andreas Klöden, Matthew Busche, Jani Brajkovic, Nelson Oliveira and Robert Wagner according to the Leopard-Trek release. The RadioShack release also mentioned that Jesse Sergent, Ben King, Jakob Fuglsang and Haimar Zubeldia would continue with the organization.

And, the teams are not talking about RadioShack's Levi Leipheimer, who is rumored to be joining Quick Step for next season

FWIW the Vuelta has been far more suspenseful than any of the other tours. I like the time bonuses for the win, takes the buddy buddy factor out.

Yeah, the time bonus is pretty cool. I also like that they got the TT out of the way early. This last week should be a bit of a chess match, but Cobo looks pretty damn determined not to give up any time.
