Going Long and Hard.

The 1st Black Watts Gravel Ride for the season is going to be in my hood. So come out and ride some of the stuff I ride all the time with a fun group with a level for everyone.

I’ve had the Flu the last 4-days. Which kinda sucked but at this point any day off work is a bonus 😂

Anywho, reminder that tomorrow is an international holiday, so be sure to get out and celebrate. Even if you still have the Flu and will have to go to work because if you post a ride they’ll think you’re not sick. But you are.

Also, weight training starts back up as soon as I’m not sore and sick. I got this ghetto adapter so I can do one of the things that I couldn’t do in the Program before. Will be kinda interesting trying to train for the ITI and the Track at the same time. They are not related to each other at all so it’s probably not gonna go well. Although, Ashton Lambie did it 😳

Getting back into it after the Flu 🤢

Easy lunch ride around the Res Friday just to spin the legs out. No pics because it’s my bike no one can see.

Saturday was the Black Watts event but because it’s my day off I wanted to mountain bike. So I rode to the event through Rutgers to meet the ride. Blasted the Canal with the group to be Social. Then when the group stopped in Griggstown I turned around to ride 6-Mile.

They were riding to Kingston for pancakes and in my head there was enough time to loop 6-Mile and run into them on the way back. I didn’t completely drill it and stopped to chat once or three times so I figured I’d miss them.

Came out and crossed the white bridge and saw blinky lights and put in a big effort to catch up with whoever it was and it ended up being stragglers that got popped from the main group. I pulled them to Bound Brook figuring the main group was back already, but we caught them!!

Not a long day by normal standards but there was quite a bit of work done in this time.

Laps at the track to continue dialing in a position. My legs were super flat so no efforts, Monday is usually my Recovery Day so it was OK.

Swapped to a much higher extension to bring my arms up into something like the cool kids are doing.

I’ll try to get back later in the week with better legs but one of our guys crashed riding home and broke his femur so will be out for a couple months…

I got this setup for the Track Bike. Had to get the TacX 130mm adapters for the rear wheel because the Snap doesn’t go down to 120mm. I also can’t get anything to sync to my MacBook so I just used my phone and a Bluetooth Speaker to test it out. ERG Mode also doesn’t work when you’re in the Wahoo Velodrome so I had to keep manually adjusting the Grade to make it harder/easier. I’d imagine I would run more structured workouts than the stock Velodrome Sessions available…Hopefully this doesn’t need to be a thing for a bit while the track is still totally usable.

Track Workout #3 for the week. Today was starts and 1 lap all out. Numbers are coming up as my legs re-acclimate to doing higher intensity stuff. It’s in there somewhere. I hear Regionals are in July so that buys me some time to get the rest of the work in. Deciding if I should concentrate on faking my way through the 1k or try to get my 4k where it needs to be? Anyway, some of today’s work…

One of my coworkers just got a Crux so I took him up to Sussex Branch to give him a brief intro to Gravel that isn’t the same 4 roads in Bedminster 😁

This was also my first ride since converting the STR to SS. Gearing was probably a little tall for a Beginner ride but the bike is definitely cool like this. I have a couple bigger rides planned for the upcoming weeks so I’ll more than likely throw my extra Red kit on it for that.

Afterwards I had a Gym Workout that definitely kicked my ass more than it should have. Might have to ride the geared bike tomorrow to give myself a little rest.
 
Ripped a tire at Chimney Rock this morning like 5 minutes into my ride so…Walked back to the car and drove to work to ride my other bike at the Res. Haven’t really been in there much lately but they’ve done some work. Like a tiny amount of work, but some. Riding the gravel bike in the woods during leaf season is a little sketchy.

After having this bike for sale for over a year, for $500, and getting zero bites from anyone other than a Scam Bot, I decided to just fucking ride it. I really enjoy riding it, but it’s super lame doing it alone. There are some trials pockets popping up not super far away so maybe at some point another idiot will buy one of these? Probably not.

Also, I can no longer bunny hop into a picnic table. I was able to go up the bench side but I can do that on a regular MTB so that’s super lame.

Anyway, got my poop packed for Track Bike Thursday so should be a nice morning of riding in circles tomorrow…
