Going Long and Hard.

Sooooo…..studded tires next time?

That's one of the big debates going in. There's maybe 10 miles of ice going to McGrath and it's all before Yentna. Sometimes the Farewell Lakes are exposed like in 2019, but I went through there no issues then. JayP, Jay Cable's, Troy, etc, all run HuDus because the float when it gets punchy pays off huge. You can see that as early as the Railbed when I put like an hour into Rob in maybe 10 miles. But, crashing on ice hurts a lot more than going slow in poofy snow, so?

Stupid couch potato question here, any merit to screwing studs into the toe and heel of the boots and trying to Flintstone / Strider-Bike across that stuff?

But Dillinger 5 is 4.6, and Husker is 4.0, so where is the extra float? Want wide, go with Vee 2X at 5.05

I have studs in my Wolfgars. You can totally walk it, but of course the pancake smooth rock hard surface is too tempting to not go for it.

We've all heard that siren song in one way or other before, brother. Sorry yours was in such a place and time. We were all rooting for you. Heal up fast.

My life right now is filled with people that have never ridden a Fat Bike or been to Alaska giving out free tips 🤣🤣🤣

Whatever injury I started with has migrated itself into brutal hip bruise. The muscle in my lower back on the right was super swollen and I think from walking weird to compensate for that my hip is wrecked. I stopped by Fatback to get a frame box to pack my gear in so I don't have to carry it through the airport. I'm staying through Sunday so I can do some Dog Race Tourist shit while I'm here.
