Going Long and Hard.

Haven’t been on the Scalpel in a minute and it’s currently the only bike I own with round grips. By the end of this I couldn’t open my hands or put pressure on my palms. I’ve been putting off having entrapment surgery done but I’ve been in so much pain the past few days it might be time to get it taken care of.

Would bar ends help?

Been sorta under water at work all week. Basically fall asleep as soon as I get home. Pretty sure we’re mostly dug out at this point but it’s still the busiest part of the year so I need to get my stamina for that back up.

Had this ride for the Wookie penciled in for Friday and wasn’t sure if I’d be up to actually do it. Once I got going, and got behind why I was doing it, the miles just ticked over. I stopped every 20ish miles back at the car where I had a cooler and pit stop set up.

I carried a little Wookie for about 60-miles.

Then I set him up in the woods in a spot I think he’d like, so be on the lookout for him. Take him for a ride and leave him somewhere else.

Love the idea of finding the wookee and taking him for your ride. Will be on the lookout. Let’s keep him riding with us.

Found the wookee. Rode with him in tribute to a great friend

He’s now at the top of the trail Frank helped make with the IMBA over a decade ago.

Easy week because I’m sorta planning back to back Longest Day Weekends. Went down to Hartshorne because it’s been raining and it’s always dry there.

Lunch at Nature’s Plate in Keyport. It’s a super great spot.

Today was the Juneteenth ride out of Trenton. Originally planned to ride there/back but didn’t feel like spending that much time in the rain. Getting soft in my old age.

Only 2 of us showed up for the 75-miler. And only 55 people showed up in total. Shame because it’s a cool event and run well.

My Karoo died a few miles from the finish and rebooted itself a couple hours later in 1989 so my Strava file is crazy.

Yep. Sounds like a Karoo to me.

Have you tried good karma cafe in Red Bank?

There used to be a way to disable the screentouch feature on the Karoo, which was recommended during rainy conditions, Jim. Have you explored whether that's still possible?

I just found this article: https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/articles/25184031714203-Karoo-OS-Rain-Lock. Kind of a convoluted process, but it might work for you.

Kid #2 is done!! My goal of being unemployed and riding all day everyday is coming together nicely. We have 1 year of both kids in College at the same time and then it’s pretty much game on 🤞

Congrats on being close to almost semi-retiring. This is my dream, 14 years to go 😭 I suppose I shouldn’t be rushing it.

The last decade seems to have gone by quick. Was chatting with Joe about our first Longest Day back in 2011. Doesn’t really seem that long ago but my youngest wasn’t even in school yet. That was my first Endurance Event. And now I feel like I only have a couple good years left before I buy a steel bike and take a week to ride the Gap/CO. At what age do I switch to wearing oversized Primal Wear jerseys and get a trike? Like I kinda want a trike.
