Going Long and Hard.

Matty, I'm sure we've crossed paths at some point. I did the every national level event on the east coast. I did Mt. Snow as an expert 2 years in a row. I actually liked the Plattekill XC course. I didn't race back then so I didn't really know any better, but it does make me chuckle when guys bitch about the climb at Tymor. That's ***** compared to P-Kill!!

Luke, HAHA. Jerk. PS, I broke my shoulder on the road even. THE ROAD!! Find a playground near you. Tons of lines in playgrounds. Or practice going off that wall on the rear wheel. I need to ride with you just long enough to show you that and you'll advance a lot faster. We can do friday after work!! SILLY BIKES!!

PPS-I still can't walk without limping. The swelling has gone down quite a bit though.

PPPS-I'm up here goofing off because Trek is here making a video of our shop for their dealer training thing.

-Jim.

I also raced the Plattekill XC race (back in 97-98?) and yes, that course was KILLER! Not only did the climb up the ski mountain SUCK, you had no time to recover before they shot you down some gnarly DH trail! Pretty nuts if you ask me. That race hurt like a bitch.

Thursday...

So. Leg is still trashed pretty good. The swelling has come down a bit but it's still obvious it's bigger than the right. Blah. Took off the bike again. Ice, etc, you know the drill. Not much to report there so, moving on!!

Bike porn?

Again, sorta. CX porn at least.

Chris King R45s laced into Major Toms. Baller CX. I've been taken back at how many wheelsets I've been building this year. I built 6 wheels last friday and 5 yesterday. The 6 I built friday also all got tires glued to them. Do the math and it's easy to see how I'm well in the lead for the California trip 😀

Been keeping the tubie rack filled more than not. It would seem I've somehow become the go-to guy. I'll take a picture of the rack when I get in, but it pretty much looks like it has in any other I've ever posted of that rack.

The Ripper dropped off an EVO demo. It seems mighty nice for a plastic bike. It's been spoken for the next few days so I'll grab it in the beginning of the week and put it through it's paces. Riding around the parking lot it feels like my SuperSix but I'm sure it'll come into it's own on a more proper test run. I need to fix some stuff on it first thing this morning before it goes out. Whoever assembled it first time around didn't do the bike any favors 😕

Those are brilliant. I just relaced my King Classic SS hub and King Classic 10sp hub to Major Tom rims. I found the eyelets a little difficult to lace here and there, but generally a great rim; looking forward to riding them in the schlamm.

points for the word Schlamm.

Jimmy question bout the r45 rear hub...are the flanges high comparable to a power tap hub? I am thinking about making the swap but hoping I dont need new spokes.

They are different heights, but unless you're doing Sapim, swapping the spokes isn't so expensive. The R45 is a very nice hub, I built new road wheels with them (HED Belgium C2's) and am very happy. Only downside is you need a different hub service tool than for the classics.

The R45 is much smaller than a PT. You'll need longer spokes.

Manny, I looked at the Tevas and Ken Block's signature. I got the Links to rep Jersey!! They feel good, great arch support compared to Etnies and such. I need to hit the bike to see how they stick.

Fridizzle.

Today marked my epic return to cycling!! Decided to test out the calf. It still hurts to walk but WTF? Jumped on the Sola to commute into work. Leg felt fine when I was pedaling and such. Stopped at the car wash up the street from the shop to clean my bike after my muddy ride at the Rock monday. Ewww. No workout, just pedaling. I'm sure any delusions of grandeur I may have have for the B&B#2 are 100% out the window. This will leave the door wide open for both Ilya and PooRiggy to seek some sort of revenge and redeem the masculinity I stripped from them last time around.

Glue.

I devoted another entire day to glue and wheels. 8 tire mounts in total, 1 wheel build. Pretty standard fare, CK Cross hubs in Reflexes. Nice, but not as nice as that R45 set from yesterday.

We also stripped and rebuilt the EVO. Home mechanics 🙄

EJP has the EVO right now, he's riding it on the B-Ride this morning. Those are the guys that are most likely to buy one, so we'll get it in front of them, well at least if EJP can keep up. I hope he can keep up. That wouldn't look good.

Kirt, if you're here, Nuggles showed me a way to fix those brakepads. My new ones started to squeal during my ride in yesterday. It's a fairly easy fix. I think ultimately the best fix will be to get SwissStops when they're out. That's next on my list.

That is all. Gonna try to get some power into the pedals today and see what that feels like. My calf is still visibly bigger than the other so it still ain't right.

-Jim.

Yeah stick it to iggy he's getting too fast but Kush has been appreciating my humor lately so notso much to him.
Btw I picked up those cx wheels from jeremy. Not the prettiest things I've ever seen but I used them yesterday for the first time and noticed a pretty significant difference from what iwas using. I ran them at like 32, does that sound about right? ( I weigh 162) j weighs like 200 so I know I can run them softer than he was. Hope the elephant boy calf heals up quick.

don't give up your delusions. your calf will be fine for cycling, its load bearing exercise like running that will bother you.

if you do fade plan b will be to stay out front and clear of the cage match between grateful jeremies.
