Going Long and Hard.

So what happens to your body if you under-eat by say, 500 calories or more a day for years?
I think one short answer is that you can get sick. Apart from the desire to maintain one's weight is the necessity of keeping the immune system working properly.

Wednesday.

Impromptu day off today. During my commute into work I got a call from the school nurse asking me to come get Eric. He had some kind of toothache that was driving him nuts. It of course, was not bothering him this morning BEFORE we left the house. Kids.

Rode back down the hill to the school and got him. My wife was getting him an appointment with the dentist. We had some time to kill so we went grocery shopping. Then we hit SaladWorks. Then we were on our way to Sports Authority when my wife calls me back to tell me she got an appointment. Sweet. Into the hood I go.

A cavity filling later and we're back on our journey to Sports Authority. I wanted to pick up one of those ab crunchy benches. The cement floor in my basement is killing me. We put it together and tested out our newly improved slightly less ghetto home gym. Slightly.

It fits the bill for what I need. Just need to get the core in and be able to do some stuff with the stretchy thing for my shoulder. I can now lay on the bench and pull down on the stretchy thing so it works the front part of my shoulder better. Sweet.

When my wife got home I headed out on the trials bike to hit a construction site up the street. Tons of cool lines. I got kicked out pretty quick though 🙁

Ended up back at my normal park. Hit some poop and called it a night. Wasn't 100% into it after I got booted. Oh well.

After dinner I went downstairs to get in my core routine. Logged everything into TP to see where I sat for the day. Needed to come up about 400 calories to leave me with a 1,000 calorie deficit for the day. I raided the kitchen for 400 calories and ended up just having some cheese and crackers, which I really like 😀

So at the end of the day I end up with 2400+840=3242, 3242-2213=1029. Better than yesterday and the day before and the day before...You get the drift...

That is all.

Roll up mat son! and a bouncy ball does wonders for the core. No bench needed. I can even show you how to do uni dumbell presses without a bench and work the core at the same time to get that shoulder back back in line with the other.

I have a rollie mat, and a bumbell, they're on the shelf there 😀

I like the bench, it seems more official. I do need to add a few bigger dumbells to do presses and such. That way I can get jacked enough that people won't question my being 170 pounds :getsome:

PS-That's a joke. I don't wanna be jacked.

Again, avoid any fall. You can take all the supplements you want they'll go right through you without the proper nutrition. Tumbling down the stairs at home or just slipping in your driveway could have you lose the use of a limb or two.

Not only that but you've been there already.

This is serious, be really careful.

Bingo! Jim if you don't understand what is needed for appropriate absorption of minerals, especially as an athletic vegetarian, you need to speak with someone qualified. I appreciate that everyone self diagnoses, but you're playing with fire given your fracture history.

The only thing I have to go on in that regard is the info given to me by the guy that put me back together. He's the one that gave me the supplement regime I currently follow. How that regime is affected from cutting calories I just don't know. What I do know is that my diet is significantly healthier than it's ever been so even though my calories are down, the stuff that I am getting is all good. Where as in the past, little to none of it was good. Doing the strength training several times a week also helps as it helps build bone density. Sometime before the season starts I'll need to get in there and get a scan done just to be sure, but I'm definitely better off than before I crashed...

Thursday.

Longer bike day. Split into 2 parts of course. First part was my normal A-Loop before work at noon. Used a couple of little things I've picked up already from the first few chapters of Allen's book. First was paying closer attention to when I ate breakfast in relation to getting on the bike. He suggests 1.5-2 hours. Works out fine for me because I get up between 6 and 7 and get on the bike at 9. Today I ate at 7:30. Definitely felt better during the first hour. Normally I eat just before I get on the bike and it takes a bit for me to get going. Second was paying more attention to on the bike food. I've found here that I normally eat too much on the bike and as a result start feeling bogged down. Today I went with 300 calories an hour and it seemed to work just fine. He says you won't be able to get in any more than about 50% of what's being burned. So at 600-700kj and hour, 300-350 calories are all you're gonna put back in. I would normally mix that just into the bottle, plus solid food. Point taken.

Trees. They fall down. Everywhere!! 4 of the roads on my loop were closed.

When I got into work I quickly got dressed and made a big bowl of Soybeans as a nice recovery. This is another one of those foods I can eat all day 😀

Bike porn? Maybe if you like fat-asses 😀

This build will be put off for about a month or so. We're going on vacation next week. When I get back the following week I'll get the build list together and get everything on it's way. Then I pray it snows. A LOT!!

Food. I felt like I ate all day. I had a full box of MorningStar Breakfast biscuits for lunch and one of those cups of pineapple chunks. When I got home I had a full box of MorningStar bacon. I even bought some Peeps but couldn't bring myself to eat them...Tomorrow...they die!!

So I ended up with another big deficit despite eating all day. I'll probably have some snack before I go to sleep so these numbers will change but as of right now...

167.5lbs this morning. 2400+1775=4175...4175-2635=1540 deficit. This is all also based off Norm's suggestion of my daily calorie start, and it does seem to fit with my weight loss pattern.

If you look at that number you can start to see why I developed my diet to be between 3500-4000 calories a day. During the winter when I was putting in 20+hour weeks you can see why it's very easy to eat whatever the hell you want. Even 1/2 gallon of ice cream a week will leave you in a deficit. It's also very easy to see why continuing that diet while only putting in 10 hours a week would make you gain 20 pounds in not all that much time.

That is all.

Frank loves me, there's no way he'll kick me out!! Plus, hopefully the conditions will be bad enough that no one will be out there in the first place 😀

PooRiggy, we're going to DisneyLand next week. Our check-in is Tuesday but we may leave a day or two earlier and stay a night with my parents in South Carolina. Should be tons of fun, the boys are super-excited. I'm super excited about hitting LegoLand, I may buy the awesome VW Camper kit while I'm there!!
