H2H-IV Lewis Morris dust off thread

Brutal. Second race ever, decided to enter sport 19-29 in order to: get 2 extra hours of sleep, get my money's worth, challenge myself, and get 2 extra hours of sleep. Within the first 20 seconds I knew I was just going to let the rest of the field go and focus on riding the best pace that I could. Maybe passed one or two people on the first lap, but have a feeling I finished dead last. No big deal. Had fun. Horrendous lower back pain from the end of the 1st lap on. Could barely stand for a lot of the descents on the 2nd and 3rd laps and was trying to move around and stretch as much as possible. Also would like to try racing on something other than my 34lb trail bike. Enough with the excuses...bring on the next round.

Damn, sounds like it would have been a great race. I woke up sicker than a dog this morning:cry:

Have to wait to see how everyone did.

Sorry to hear that Ron, I was lookin for ya.

Like everyone else, I had a great time today. The weather was beautiful, conditions were fast, and I got 1st place in Cat 3 30-39 despite feeling pretty crappy all week.
Hopefully I'll make the next race at KVSP, and hopefully they'll find out WTF is wrong with my gut without doing a colonoscopy😱
Sorry too much info??😕
Thanks to Chainsaw for putting the jinks on you-know-who...😉

I have less than 10% up so far. It's going to take all night. 10 GIGS of photos
beginners are all on their way, sport lap 1 is on it's way.
working on the rest of sport with the jumps now.
I'm nervous about starting so many uploads all at once though, I'm going to wait as long as I can to start the remaining uploads. Hopefully beginner will finish soon.

o yea..... half way into the first lap, i lost the contents of my saddle bag... 2 co2's, 1 inflater, 1 tube, 1 patch kit, and 1 multi tool and 2 tire levers..... to whoever found it all... enjoy.

Such an awesome day today. 1 year since my first mtn bike race ever. Got 13th in beginner last year. 40+ minutes and used my granny ring for every climb. I was completly stunned at how bad I did and considered never racing again. But I decided to give it another try. 1 year later I managed to win 30-34 sport today. Even sweeter was the fact that my mother came up from florida and was there to cheer me on. Plus I also managed to run down the guy who smoked me at waywayanda and took first there. Never thought I would catch him, or James fox for that matter. Knowing the course as well as I do was definetly helpful.

Great work everyone! Especially Norm! Not only the first guy to pass me, but the only guy on lap two. Everyone else took another lap. Nice work beating leo today Norm, thats worth a medal in itself. Thanks for reminding to not stand and pedal norm, it was actually very helpful. I backed off and took it easy on lap two and had enough in the tank to hold off my buddy from martys on lap 3.

First Team No Tights victory!!!!

Awesome day for you Joe - way to bring it home on your home turf. You're having a great year yourself. In the running for series overall now...? Very cool that your parents were able to see your win. Happy to be able to encourage you today. Big job! Keep it up!

jinx...

ahaha...it was a joke. i had a body issue, had to shut'er down and cruise so i could live to see another race. good job everyone. the kegs, nice weather and fimaliar faces kept me and dana there all day. good time...even with the issues 6th and a pretty good time was all i could hope for.

today was my first mountain bike race. after a few years of road racing, the family friendly atmosphere at LM was refreshing. The event was well run and the crowd was great.

Course was fast and had dried up nice after the past 3 weeks of rain. seemed a bit washed out in places, but still very enjoyable. I went hard at the start and second into the hole in the cat 3 30-39 race and held my position until the last 3/4 mile. Me and the guy ahead had a comfortable gap on the field when some dude came from *way* back in the pack and hammered furiously past us for the win. Amazing.

After only 36 minutes of racing i was cooked. Came in 3rd and got a can of Pabst. neat.

A fun day, ill be back.

Great job out there fellas. Today was fun, fast, and DRY!! I was able to hold off the Bulldog boys today but Seabeast and Patrick were another story. Those guys are FAST!! My only saving grace is that Patrick only races LM and KVSP so he won't factor into the overall. Seabeast on the other hand may have just cemented the top spot, he's riding very well this season!!

-Jim.

Sounds like you had a good time. I know you missed my presence there as the pack was a little smaller. Good to hear you had a dry race. For me it was nice to have a rest day as I'm getting in some nice miles here in Colorado.

pomole - if youre the rider I'm thinking of ("Jimenez" on your shorts something like that), I dont think the rider that blew by you was in the 30-39 class, I think that was the winner of the 40-49 group. I was with you and the 2nd place guy (red shirt) the whole race (I was the single-speed guy...finished fourth, 20 seconds or so back). I almost caught the red shirt guy at one point before my legs gave out....and then you passed me 🙁 but I dont think I ever saw the guy that won our group I think he was always a few minutes ahead. I could be wrong.

Joe (ptb66) killed it today he's the dude you speak of...I usually keep an eye on the sweet pony tail but today wasn't my day...figures the only place I've been a bunch of times is the race I bonk...if you can call 6th a bonk. I'm feeling it and will be for a few.

thanks Chainsaw - the ponytailed-one never passed me...he was out front from the beginning and stayed there. the guy who passed us quickly in the last mile or so had to be the winner of the 40-49 group.

btw, Chainsaw - you going to Kittatiny? if so, sounds like I should just get on your tail and hang on as long as I can 😉

does that count as "littering" the course?????😀

I saw a co2 in the middle of the trail. Should have picked it up but I was going to fast. Nick said he lost 2 Camelback waterbottles. I'm going to start the rumor that he has herpes so that they are returned to him 🙂

I'll be in better shape after some rest and a visit to *halters* this week. Any chance the mtbnj team changes the orange to the pink I had on today? It may work well
