I bought my 1 year liscence, and i registered for the Wawayanda race.

What do i need to bring with me other then myself, bike, and gear?

Later this year if I feel like I can handle it I am thinking about trying 1 race this year in the beginner class. Which race would be the best for such a tryout?

Even though you pre-register I found last year bring your cycling licence or the number with you to enter on the sign in form. Other than that and what you mentioned bring a smile and the desire to have fun.

I would probably say LM or Kittatiny as they are the least technical if that is your weakness. If not, any are a great time, although Blue was pretty nasty IMO.

Thanks RNG, those were the 2 that I had my eye on as well as the JH race. Also the time frame gives me a little more time to get into the technical groove. That and get my fitness up. Have them marked on my calendar.

Ellen- it's great for the series to spell everything out like that this year. Everyone should read the rules, and those in the hunt for a series overall jersey should DEFINITELY read the upgrade rules- your competitors have a vested interest in making sure you follow the rules, so you should make sure you're following them to the letter. 😉

There's at least one series overall winner from last year who would have been disqualified under the new rule changes, so they are definitely significant.

Not sure if this was asked in another thread here, but does paydirt count as an actual race? Meaning, does the paydirt 5th place finish count as one of the 6 required races for seniors/masters?

This is priceless:

Waiting until you get home to check the results on the Internet is too late.

And I think this is what Jamie is talking about:

Simply stated, riders must advance to the next skill level if they have five top five finishes in their current category and class...If a rider wishes to stay in his or her current category in pursuit of a series title, that a rider must obtain a wavier from USA Cycling which will allow the rider to finish a series in the original category. A rider in this scenario is also responsible for notifying the series coordinator.

My question: If I remember correctly, last year there was no upgrade required for Experts. Does that still apply for Cat 1?

Wow that has got to be some sort of record for the fastest complaint logged against a future race, no?

Oh stop creating controversy. It's not a complaint -- It's a funny name and I called them out on it. Now go ban someone for not liking your latest clif bar review.😀

And I think this is what Jamie is talking about:

Kind of. Check out rule 3. The "hypothetical" situation (missing the start time of the Cat 3 race and racing Cat 2 instead) did happen last year, and the racer who did that went on to win his Cat 3 class overall. The rules have been changed (well, not changed as that USAC rule has always been in effect, just made more clear through the language in the H2H rule) to specifically prevent that from happening this year.

Also forgot to mention the obvious stuff like dry change of clothes, food, drinks, barbeque with enough food to grill for at least your racing class etc
