H2H Series and questions

If someone brings a grill and we can get some food together I could always grill for the MTBNJ crowd at one of these events 🙂

Kind of. Check out rule 3. The "hypothetical" situation (missing the start time of the Cat 3 race and racing Cat 2 instead) did happen last year, and the racer who did that went on to win his Cat 3 class overall. The rules have been changed (well, not changed as that USAC rule has always been in effect, just made more clear through the language in the H2H rule) to specifically prevent that from happening this year.

That seems so hypothetical that how could you have rules for every possible scenario. I would just think that would fall under "you missed the race".

Norm let's get this going before he changes his mind or another team gets him!!!!
First he's willing to hand out bottles and now this?

Don't worry I won't change my mind. Aside from being on my bike cooking is the best way I know how to relax. I know its hard to believe, but I trust try to be of help. Its my southern upbringing 😉

I think they have grills there in the picnic area. I hope you're out there grilling until dark, bc it may take me that long to finish 3 laps :drooling:

p.s. reminder: no alcohol permitted in state parks

I don't recall seeing grills at Kittatinny (Bulldog Rump) but I can bring my portable Weber BBQ grill (old school charcoal style).😀

Anything I need to know about the H2H series? This will be my first race series. Should I sign up in the CAT1 or CAT2 class? I have plenty of experience riding, but no race experience. Plus I am only 16.

Also, I just bought a 2008 Felt Redemption, but it seems that it is not a good race bike for this terrain. Should I consider getting a hardtail, 29er, or a Trek Fuel EX? What type of bike do you have?

You want to sign up for Cat 3, beginner. If you win or do very well, you can easily move up to Cat 2 the next race, but racing is a whole other animal than trail riding so definitely go Cat 3 your first time out.

Your bike is fine, it's not the usual XC world cup bike but don't spend a penny on a new bike until you've done at least a few races and you get hooked. in time a HT or shorter travel full-susser would drop seconds or even minutes from your race times, but you have no idea whether you're going to take to it or not. besides there's a huge variety of bikes and you won't feel out of place -- it's just fun!!

so after talking to Mare today im pretty sure im going to give the "bulldog romp" a go this year.

1. when is the race course laid out and will i have enough time to walk/ride it

2. can i use my SS? i will be doing the beginner cat3

3. um...thats all

1. when is the race course laid out and will i have enough time to walk/ride it?

Most of the time they know the loop a week or so beforehand, maps are usually posted here on the interweb. The course is usually taped off the day before. If you show up mad early in the AM you can pre-ride day-of but if you're doing CAT3, that's early!!

2. can i use my SS? i will be doing the beginner cat3

Yes, albeit in CAT3 there is no bike separation. You'd still be better off racing CAT3 on a SS than doing CAT2 SS where you'll more than likely get lapped by Freddy and/or Chris DeNoma. That would be no fun for a first race😀

Don't wait until KVSP, race Waywayanda:getsome:

-Jim.

How long is the wayway race? I may try and get my fat behind into this race, but want to make sure I don't make a fool of myself. Is there a Cat 3 "Husky" class 😉
