ON RIDING
I'm very excited to be back on the bike. I had a couple half ass weeks on the trainer in February, then Florida and then have kept my momentum since. March has been tough with these temperatures. I feel like last year broke by now. Next week looks promising..
Speaking of weather I blew off riding outdoors today for a trip to Scottie's Records in Summit. I had it in my mind I would pick up Neil Young Live at Massey Hall, which I did.

But then also saw they had a repress of Smashing Pumpkin's Siamese Dream, which I didn't even know I needed until it was in my hand. The cover is an alternate color and holographic, kinda odd but plays nice.

Ended up on the trainer tonight. Did some intervals, it hurt, I'm still slow, maybe I was always slow.

ON NUTRITION.
Eggs eggs eggs. I picked up a 30 rack of shoprite brand whites for something like $4.50 yesterday.

I've been dabbling in hard boiled a little. I over did the yokes last try.. Maybe next time. Speaking of fertilized the religious nuts are out protesting abortion at the planned parenthood. I'm all for people protesting and sharing their views but I draw the line when you take my parking spot. I call them nuts because they throw burning eyes at ANY young woman who happens to be on the sidewalk adjacent to the planned parenthood. Seriously.

BACK TO NUTRITION
I also got a ton of broccoli, Bobs Red Mill honey oat granola (side note Moe Bruno-Roy is retiring http://mmracing.org/newsletter/news15_retirement.html - one of the best american female cx racers, and all around awesome person)

BACKBACK TO NUTRITION
And Cabot vanilla greek yogurt. I love this stuff. I actually get out of bed on time so I can have my yogurt and 'nola. I kept away from the ice cream this week in favor of Smartfood Kettle-corn. This stuff is GOOD.

ON CAR SHOPPING
I'm planning on replacing big blue before the coming CX season, probably around the end of July. I'm looking for something fuel efficient with enough space to get 2+ bikes on the roof, 3 extra sets of wheels, 4 people, and everyone's bags for a weekend of racing. Zach's Ford Focus ST hatch perfect for just us but as soon as the ladies come along people have bags on their laps SO, I'm looking at wagons. I also swore I wouldn't ever buy new, but the more I look at things the more attractive new sounds. My budget is 22K and internet shopping has me looking at new or used VW Jetta Sportwagons which are being replaced this year by the Gulf Sportwagon. HEY, @jimvreeland any input on these bad boys?

ANY AND ALL OTHER CAR INPUT IS WELCOME. I've never car shopped. Woot.

Popcorn time.

Bob's Red Mill Apple Strawberry Granola is my jammmmmmmmmmmm. But right now I have the honey oat too, because it was on sale. I know you know that feel.

But seriously, Bob's products are my favorite. The 10 Grain pancake and waffle mix is a pre-race must in our house. Now I want pancakes. Thanks.

I was eating Bob's Muesli for breakfast pretty much everyday for about a year. I've now switched to the honey almond granola and have been doing that the last six months. I soak it for like ten minutes in unsweetened vanilla almond milk and it's amazing! Plus, Amazon Prime.

Dude, you were like 5 doors away from the shop and didn't stop by!!??

The Sportwagen is nice. This is nicer...

'NOLA
I usually am on and off the train of eating well. My last breakfast kick I was eating Kind brand granola. Kind won my heart at Charm City CX with their endless water, bottomless samples and amazing crew. The Bob's stuff however is also from an awesome company had an ounce more and was under $4 a bag!

Let me get this straight...you want to go from your panther... one of the most reliable vehicles on planet earth...to a VW? I mean do you know the money you are going to have to spend in tools now? 🙂 ask @gtluke

I had a 2011 VW Sportwagen TDI. I keep the rack on the car most of the year, so ended up putting on a hitch and going with a Kuat. Scraped on steep driveways, but you get used to going in on an angle. With bikes on the back, a Thule cargo carrier on the roof and the room in the back of the car, we took it everywhere with the family.

Got a Passat TDI after that and while I can go almost 800 miles on a tank in the summer, it's just an ugly sedan to go from point a to point b. Once the new Golf Sportwagen comes out, it's time to turn the Passat in that doesn't make me feel like I'm 80 years old. Wish they'd bring out the R Wagen that Jim posted, or the GTD.

Scotti's in Summit. Bought my first album from there. Think it was Who's Next.

Nola - Home made Nola is my jam but I do agree the KIND bars you gave me were delish.

Car - Toyota Venza is my vote. Those VWs are POSs unless you like dumping buttloads of money.

PS if you are looking for a new vehicle and want a really good price look into these partner plans. Some you have to work for a company that is in the system but others there are more creative ways to get in. For example, I'm planning to get a mustang GT or GT350 next year so I joined the mustang club of america for 50 bucks. With that membership, I now have access to Ford's X-plan system, where you basically get a car for invoice - 0.4% of invoice + $250.

Part of my lean towards new is I currently am dealing with a shit box of my own, I don't really want to inherit someone else's shit box.

@UtahJoe I wouldn't say the platform is the most reliable, I would say it's very accessible to keep going but I've had a whole lot of issues ranging from a door lock mechanism breaking off its mount to heater core, to intake manifold cracking at the coolant cross over (prestty much everything that typically goes wrong with my car has) and I'm sure a few other things I'm forgetting.

Most of my current issues are mechanical in nature, looks like VW has a lot of electrical issues, which is intimidating. We also get $500 off dealer invoice through USA cycling benefits which is pretty cool, I guess.

The Mazda 6 wagon might be in reach but the mileage isn't incredible.

Subaru Outbacks new are out of price range, and used not really in that mileage ball park I want.

Venza is way out the range new.

I'm already over car shopping.

There is that guy who made a bike rack for his small displacement motor cycle. Passing that dude on my way home from Supercross day 1 last year made me shiver. It was 14 Kelvin that day with winds from the red spot of Jupiter.
