Hi. New to the board

Hi,

I came across this board recently when looking for info on a race and was surprised by the wealth of information available here and by just how friendly and helpful people are here.

I had the pleasure of riding with some of you already (capedoc, creeker_1 and UtahJoe) and hope to meet more people and more trails soon.

Ah, about myself. I considered myself an "experienced beginner" 😀 I started MTB 9 years ago when someone gave me a used Mongoose HT in Texas. Through the years I've done a few races ranking anywhere from dead last to 2nd (my last race a few weeks ago 🙂 ). This year I decided to do what I like the most in terms of sport (MTB, of course) and stop fooling around with other things I was doing.

See you on the trails (or on the threads 🙂

Welcome aboard, just so I know is it pampa (the "a" sound like pom poms) or pampa (like the "a" in panda)?

Welcome..Nice meeting you on Sunday....You were def. hammering on that downhill section. Im sure you will do fine on race day.

Thank you for the welcome!

The answer to the "do you own a 29er" question is: more or less 😕 I just bought a frame (Niner Air 9) and will start building the bike soon. I can't wait to ride it.

RNG1, is Pampa with both "a"s pronounced as in panda. BTW, that's the name of the region where I grew up in Argentina (basically, grass-filled plains, lots of cows 🙂 and, incidentally, also the name of the aborigines that inhabited it 😀).

This is the first time I participate in a message board and it's really cool. Talking with fun people that speaks the same language (MTB, that is 🙂) I like the avatars and signatures, some of them are hilarious (I need to get one soon).

See you.

Hola Segundo! I was born here in the United States of Jersey but my parents are from Argentina, they came here in 1963. Dad was a farm boy from the Entre Rios area and Mom grew up around Buenos Aires.

welcome aboard!

Welcome aboard! I see we're "neighbors" - there are quite a few people who ride in the area/local parks - hope to see you on the trails!

Hi from an adopted "Newjersino" hailing from Argentina

Hey Mike,

What a coincidence. I also grew up on a ranch but on the south of Buenos Aires. I bet he still drinks mate, right? (for everyone not familiar with this, so for pretty much everyone🙂, mate is a green tea that's very popular in Argentina; same as coffee here). I drink it every day, the traditional way:getsome: (another note for "mate-newbies": I drink it in very suspicious device that many people here think look like a bonk 😱).

I hope to meet you one these days (and your parents too!).

Hi skiphreaknj,

I've riding with the Marty's folks out of the Hackettstown shop on Tuesdays at 6PM. It's a great ride. We normally hit Stevens Park and Deer Park as well. On the weekends I use to go to Deer Park all the time but now I started to go to Lewis Morris (preparing for the upcoming race😉).

See you on the trails.

BTW, I ride a grey Cannondale Lefty.

Welcome. My name is Ben and I enjoy Bikn.

I am the one responsible for the wealth of information here. :getsome:

I'm definitely going to Jorba Fest. Last year I missed it (I think it rained and the date was changed...). Anyway, I'm going w/ my 3 kids. It should be a lot of fun.
