I-Phones: Still Love 'em?

Shaggz

A strong 7
So, a few associates switched from Black Berries to I-Phones. The concensus seems to be that after the inital "wow" period, they wish they never made the switch. The main complaints are AT&T vs. Verizon service (dropped calls) and the keyboard.

How does everyone else feel?

Drop calls.
They need to change the SIM card.
And bring it in to Apple store they will fix the issue.

Keyboard takes some time to get used too. And sometime can be a pain.
But the iPhone rocks.

Mine has not dropped calls any more than any network has before the iPhone. Every phone/network I've ever been on drops something, sometimes. It's fine in that regard.

The Wow Factor still happens almost on a weekly basis when I find an application that blows my mind. Check out iUniverse, it's simply an amazing application. I cannot believe that $3 affords such a cool App. I have turned the laptop I used to use at home into nothing but a printing machine. Even at home I usually use the iPhone.

If you are a business user, the BB makes more sense because it simply doesn't matter where the Orion Constellation is, or if you got any Facebook updates, and the BB is easier to type long emails with. If you are a 1-2 sentence ADD-like user, the iPhone will be fine. The iPhone keyboard took about a day to get used to. Many of the posts here are from the iPhone. You need to learn to trust the autocorrect, though at times it does goofy things.

ATT are running fiber to all there towers, poor planing on there part, and lack of vision on this. My buddy is on this team working on this project, this fiber lines will be run first in major citys then suburbs, or something like this......
ATT did not think this would be an issue. Ahh somebody dropped the ball on this one,,, Dumb board of morons....

Verizon has an awesome network... too bad their current selection of smartphones blows. I've been waiting for over 4 months for something new to come out. I know, I know. Just wait another month or two. Or they are going to get the Palm Pre in 1Q 2010. Blah Blah Blah. They have an Android Motorola phone in the pipeline that is the butt ugliest thing I have ever laid eyes on. C'mon Verizon. Get with the program! No wonder people keep buying Iphones and putting up with the crappy AT&T network.

If Verizon had to deal with the amount of data traffic that AT&T does, you'd have the same connectivity issues. Lucky for Verizon that no one uses much internet service on the Blackberry because the user experience sucks.

The real problem is not AT&T, it's AMERICA. Japan, Korea and most of Europe have FAR, FAR better/faster cellular data service, but the USA is sadly lagging WAY behind.

As a pure phone & email device, I think the iPhone is a pain in the butt and would rather have a BB.

steve-
like norm, i am using my laptop less and less. for all it's "faults", the iPhone is hands down the best device currently on the market. does it have it's drawbacks? of course. but the upside more than makes up for it. my biggest gripes are the keyboard, which i have gotten used to, and the fact the damn thing has no spell check. auto correct is fine but i NEED spell check. if they (as in apple) ever want to really get corporate american on board, that is a necessity.

regarding the network, i have had some issues with calls on AT&T but no more or less than with VZ or Sprint. sprint actually blew monkeys which is why i dropped them three years ago. AT&T is just taking the biggest hits now b/c of the vast amounts of data the iPhone consumes. if/when the iPhone ports over to other carriers or when other carriers start getting cool and good devices they will have similar issues. And 4G/LTE ain't gonna fix that, trust me.

Bingo.

the east and europe dealt with this issue five years ago. they also have a completely different set of "cool factors" for mobile devices.

plus they're built there (in Asia) so you can get a knock-off iPhone for like three chickens, a duck and a bird's nest.

I love mine, but I never had a Blackberry or similar type of phone. I came from a typical flip phone.
I wanted a "fun phone" and hands down that's the iphone.

I can text with one hand , while driving ,with no problem ,but my kids yell at me and tell me it's not safe .🙂

Yes, it's still great. If I was in the city all the time and had bandwidth problems I wouldn't put up with it. I still use my laptop quite a bit. And I only text while on bike.

i have both BB and iphone, and i love my iphone hands down.

BB is great for emails...thats about it, oh, and cant forget BBM, which is also a nice feature that the iphone should adopt.

I like mine. Work has me on AT&T but I have great reception everywhere and I have yet to drop a call in months.
jailbreak
cydia
appulous
Then it becomes a really fantastic device. Gotta get Steve Job's thumb out of your butt first and jailbreak it.

I hear its finally getting MMS. Officially. Thats pretty crazy that its been out for 2+ years and has never been able to send picture messages...

It goes to show how awesome the other features are to make everybody forget it cant do MMS..
