Thanks Tom, snow makes everthing better, so does music, dark chocolate and boobies. I'll talk about dark chocolate and boobies another time. The snow has been good, I think I did over 10hrs on skis this week, I should look at my Garmin. I'm not sure whats going to come of the snow this week, the weather looks useless...to warm for snow, too wet for mtb trails...that leaves the road bike, meh. I want it to either stay cold with snow or mild with dry trails to mtb on.

Friday I went to see Alynda Lee and her Riff Raff at Carnegie Hall. I usually just tell people I'm going to see a band but then they ask , who are you going to see. When I tell them they say Oh. My mom knows not to even ask who I'm going to see. I had pizza with her Friday before the show, during the course of conversation I get the disapproving tone of always being on the go, why don't you sit home and watch a movie? Normally my mom doesn't bother me but I was not drinking beer during dinner, when she usually passes her church lady comments I don't pay attention. Being sober It kinda hit me that my mom does not approve of a lot of things I do, knowing this I usually talk about what she is interested in. If anything some good came from this because it pointed out to me that no one wants to be judged and in a sense we all seek approval and acceptance. I had lunch with Jamie the next day with this in mind and was more conscientious of listening and showing approval and acceptance of what he is into.

We can tell people we love them but acceptance and approval are more then words.

We missed you Friday night.. I got your cap and gown from the night in my car. The family loved the art work you made for them. Thank you.. Really nice work..

The show was incredible. I saw this band about a year ago at the Bowery down-town and found Alynda Lee Segara to be a great vocalist who was really comfortable onstage. The opening act was a band Luke would listen to, they sounded like they were from Mars and turned their amps up to 11. When HRFTRR walked on stage with fiddle and acoustic guitars I was expecting them to get heckled and boo-ed off stage but this did not happen. The crowd quieted and hung onto her every word. Her performance at Carnegie Hall a few weeks ago was just as exciting but she was even more polished, coming out in a long flowing gown looking like Loretta Lynn. She did not play on the main stage but played in Zankell Hall, which is one of the smaller stages which seats about 600 people. This was perfect for an intimate performer like Alynda but I would say she could own a much larger stage as well.

HFTRR played mostly from their newest album but pulled some of the popular stuff off the other two albums as well. They also surprised the audience by playing 2 new songs that are going to be on an upcoming album. This material was more rock sounding with upbeat lyrics and driving electric guitar, can't say I loved it when I first heard it but maybe I need to hear it again on the upcoming album? The highlight of the night was a 3 song set with Alynda, accordian playing dude and Yosi, the fiddle player. Yosi looks like Lance. This break down is where Alynda's voice really shines, the silence over the crowd was INTENSE.

Well so much for going to Canada to xc ski for my 50th birthday, I forgot about the passport thing. I don't have one and just found out it takes 6 weeks to process one...if i get the ball rolling I'll make it to Canada next year. Maybe I can borrow Norm's passport, we kinda look a like...do they look a the picture.

Hopefully they get snow in NY or VT, so far its been dry up there. I need to get my xc ski fix in before the start of race season. I'm looking forward to cold weather so the trails can freeze up around here. I'm gonna taket the road bike out today, blah. Actually it will be kinda fun since I haven't been on it in weeks.

CR is solid now with the cold temps. I was surprised at how dry the trails were. There is still some compacted snow and occasional ice patch to keep you focused.

Woody and I heard an explosion on the start of climb up yellow. When we got to High Tech trail we could see smoke in the distance blowing in from the west. We headed over to the look out at CR and could see the smoke from an explosion in Hillsborough. Luckily no one was hurt.
