My race season is essentially over, other then doing the BS50 and CP races as a team with someone, I have no training plan for the next several months, at this point when I get on the bike it's to have fun and ease my mind. Not to say doing intervals or tempo rides is not fun, they are more satisfying when done, like something difficult that you accomplish. At this point my body needs rest after 4 months of training and racing. The months of March through mid July I dedicate to putting in hard efforts on the bike, to do this for a greater period of time would be counter productive and damage my chi.
Damage what? According to Daoists, you can damage your life force energy by wearing yourself down. This may seem like common sense, however such a religion is dedicated to keeping you mind and inner being healthy. Like any religion they have principles to guide your life. On Friday evening I went to listen to Master Meng speak on the tenets of Daoism. The event was at a local farm about .5 mile from my house. Meng traveled from China and is in the states giving lectures on his religion. It's interesting to hear first hand, well he had an interpreter to translate, I'm not sure if that is still considered first hand?

There are some teachings that strike a chord with me upon hearing, Mengs talk definetly rang true with some of the things I believe. I'm not really a fan of any one particular religion, they are basically all just beliefs made up by another man, so I pull from things that make sense to me and how I want to live my life. No one religion is greater then any other imo and we are all free to chose what we do or do not believe.
Ok, enough serious talk. This week I met up with Woody at some local trails, he always seems to have good fitness. I was expecting a leisurely ride but ended up ripping with him, we ate burritos afterward, a post ride tradition.
Mitch and I rode Allaire on Saturday, good SS fun. Allaire can bore me, however Mitch always makes it fun. After waking up early for work and dealing with work related stress I always feel better after a ride with Mitch.
Kirt and I went to beer mecca in Brooklyn later Saturday. We scored $500 In beer, it's crazy to think that for $12 we could get a case of good beer in the 70s. Either the 70s beer sucked or we don't know what the fuck else to do with our money today.
Sunday me and my brothas rode Stephens. The ride up was similiar to KVSP race last week, rain the whole way, then no rain within 10 miles of the place. It was good to have the Beatles back together, 6er has been coaching softball and I was racing every other wknd. We should play a steady number of gigs until 6er starts up with fall ball, then we will be the Police or Rush, take your pick, are you a Police or Rush person? u can't be both.
Jason got in the pic because beer.
