I had that exact type of failure several times with the 12x142 alloy axle of a Hope SS specific hub. Warranty replaced twice. Once with another alloy axle, 2nd time with stainless steel. Been fine since. Supposedly was the 1st in the U.S.
All metal fatigues to failure at some point. And that free hub needs a cleansing!

Too much powah! The hubs have been good since. It's Niner that I'm done with.Hope 🤮. I’m done with them. Had a hub body snap and their crank spindle fail. Nope.
