Looking to make new friends for casual rides.

I am new to Bergenfield and am looking for fat bikers to show me around the local trails.
Me and my girlfriend wouldn't be against traveling.

Hey neighbor-
Yes, @soundz and I can definitely give you the lay of the land in the area.

Also good shops to hook up with are Tenafly Bicycle Workshop and Westwood Cycles-
both have group rides on the local stuff.
Tenafly has a nice casual Sunday social ride, if it's on for this week,
conditions could be about perfect for fatbiking.

Welcome! There's some local stuff you can probably get to in 10-15min. You can get 2.5-3hrs of riding in there and it's not half bad. If you keep connecting with different parks while traveling North, there's a whole lot more miles to be had.

For the really good (rocky) stuff, you want to head out toward the Ringwood area. You can probably get to Ramapo in 20min or less w/o traffic.

Let us know when you are free to ride. Maybe we can get a small group going.

Hey hey hey
It's Fat Danny!
Welcome to the fat-a-lisious fraternity.
Don't miss out on blue, sprain and graham hills in NY too.

I live in Westwood( about 4 miles from you), you have some nice trails in the Alpine boys scout camp about 6 or 7 miles away...shoot me a pm some time and I can show you around there. I have also been riding dirt around here since mountain bikes had road bike angles. I know most of the trails in a 100 mile radius.

Name is scott😀

I recognize the trail in your photo, it's the saddle river bike path. It's near me you can squeeze out a couple of miles off road but not a fat bike destination. I ride a 29er, but like fat bikes. Ringwood is a great place but snow is probably too deep at this time.

Welcome! Nice pair of bikes you have there. You may already know this, but when it snows the paved paths (like Saddle River) are great for fatbiking as long as snow depths are manageable (typically 6" of fresh or less). These paved trails also get a fair amount of foot traffic due to the proximity near houses and their purpose of connecting neighborhoods, so the snow tends to get packed down nicely after a day or so (suitable for any sort of MTB when firm). Ringwood was rideable this past weekend but the warm temps this week are going to melt a lot of it and/or turn it to slush.

Nice photos of Ringwood must have been a blast. Saddle River bike path is plowed even during blizzards. I rode it on my old 26 during the blizzard and was clear by the day after. Good place to go in the winter to keep moving. Only disadvantage it gets crowded and is only 6 miles each way.
