Mercer County Park Conditions

A few trees Down... Behind tennis courts, alternate blue and red loop on other side of lake

Also seemed to be sandyer than normal, more erosion taking place behind tennis courts too

Took a spin around the park this afternoon. A few trees still down on orange but cleared from blue. Soft trails but not too much mud/puddles. Lots of sand too...

Blue Trail TM on Wed

Three brave souls went out on Wed afternoon. Mick, Chuck & Tom.. Betweent the raindrops & thunder we worked on Blue north of the powerlines
Reseated the washed out bridge next to Conovor Road and cleared the tree in the trail. Cleared all the downed trees by the small ponds.
Cleared the trees down by the "missing" bridge.
Made it out before the skies opened!😀

WTG guys! The bridge by Conover road washed out again? Geez! We need to anchor that somehow...
I have to get to Mercer for a ride. I haven't been there on the bike in a month!

lol , WOW! settle down there man!😀

I ride@ Mercer quite a bit and will join you for a ride at some point but it'll have to dry out a little first, we've gotten a ton of rain 😉

Please try to save this thread for trail conditions updates like:

"Trails are wet/soft from the recent rain, blood-sucking parasites are in high gear....oh and the mosquitos are also bad!" 😀

Maybe post a new thread looking for ride partners in the Mercer forum. 😉

Folks, Mercer is pretty much devastated. Trees are down and trails are impassable. I walked sections of the Blue trail on Tuesday afternoon.. It was really very sad to see sections of the forest destroyed... flattened. No longer as we once knew it....🙁

Making an effort

Going to make an effort to get out to Mercer tomorrow and help any way we can. If you see some guys riding around with saws on their backs and determination on their face, that's us.

I was there today, Blue trail towards the Crew House was the worst. Behind the Dam is not that bad, but there are a lot of sticks all over the trails just waiting to break some spokes.🙁

Big Spoon and anybody else interested in helping clear trail....

Please meet us Sat 9:30AM- East Picnic Area. Mick Tormey will have JORBA tools, gloves, hand saws Etc for everybody to use. We have Park permission to use chain saws. The more hands we have the more we can clear.

The plan is to start on blue trail from the east picnic area and make our way to the Rowing center. I doubt we will get it all done but it will be a start.

If you decide to go out on you own please be careful and report back on what you cleared and where.

Thanks!!!!

Saturday clean up

Went out earlier than 9:30 over on the West Picnic Area Trails. Made our way through to Hughes drive and cleaned up whatever we came across. Some of the limbs / trees were large, but cleared with an ax and two dudes dragging them. You could tell the trails had been ridden and some go-around trails were naturally created.

The worst we saw was down along Hughes drive and the pics attached tell the tale. It is time for a chainsaw here.

For some reason I cant upload the images. Mod, can you help me out here?
