Mercer County Park Conditions

Rode MCP this afternoon. stuck to blue from picnic to the boathouse and back again. it was a bit soft, and just a few wet, muddy areas, but overall not bad. new trails cut b/c of Sandy were def softer, not much use yet, so not much pack. also rode red back to the marina and back by the rodgers house which had the same conditions. didn't make it to yellow or orange but hopefully this weekend. overall it was a bit slow but great to get out.

Rose MCP yesterday. The east side, red trail, to the boat house is a mess. Keep off until it dries off. Behind the courts and west look good except close to the dam and the creek. Sandy trails were great as we as leaf covered trails too!

Bring on some evaporating weather!!!!

Hit up mercer this morning - on the trails ~ 10 am and went for 1:15. Trails on the west side were in great condition - just a few frozen ruts here and there. Trails were fine until the blue trail past a picnic area (not sure which one but see strava file). Took a peek in the woods and saw lots of puddles - didn't even venture further.

Did a few loops at Mercer this afternoon before the snow hit. The trails were nice and frozen. Kudos to the trail maintenance crew...

Today was kind of warm and Mercer started to thaw in spots so we kept to the drier trails and wandered some less traveled stuff. anything with leaf cover was solid.
bare tread sections had a thin coating of mud but was still frozen underneath. Tomorrows rain is going to make Mercer a mess possibly until the next hard freeze or late spring 😉

Not bad

Actually rode here last night and conditions were not bad at all. A few wet spots here and there but otherwise good.

good 2 go

Mercer is in Awesome shape today. Tacky!
Tons of people out on bikes today. we did about 16 miles.
Get out and ride!

What's Mercer gonna look like tomorrow morning?

It's hard to say. I haven't been over there but I live pretty close. Everything is drying up and pretty firm at my house. I would think it would be ok by the afternoon besides the usual mud holes. Maybe fine in the morning too... If you head out there, give us an update please. 🙂
Anyone out there in MTBNJ land hit Mercer today?

You can always count on Mercer being in good shape with 2 days to drain. With only 1 day, stay on the high ground and you will be fine. Rode yesterday and there were the usual puddles and slick areas that we all know and love.

Rode there yesterday, only left of the marina by the dam (someone we passed said the other direction was real muddy) and had a great time. The trails were in excellent shape. Having only been to this park a couple of times, had so much fun.

Rode there yesterday also. Traction was the best I've experienced there. Everything from Van Ness tract thru red to blue in great shape except the blue trail past the sculling boat house (where one would use the pavement for a few hundred feet then turn right back into dbl track). About 100 yds in the trail turned to deep muck for as far we could see. Thought better of it and turned around. Thanks to the crew for the great new trail work on Blue around the windfalls.

upper blue takes a while to dry out and that entracne off of South Post Road is almost a swamp in winter...

If it's really muddy and I want to take upper Blue, I just take South Post road to Conover rd and jump back onto blue near the gate (first bridge)
It's a short road stretch with little traffic.
