Nassau Trail conditions

Thinking about heading up this weekend...any thoughts on conditions? And major changes since last report?

Thanks

Brian

I'm sure it's good to go. That little drizzle yesterday will have no negative impact

Was just there recently, Who ever is doing the leaf blowing is an all-star.

First time seeing all the trails around the flatlands, still haven't found the best loop yet.

Does anyone know who did the bike demo yesterday at nassau ? They left there demo signs all over the place .

How does Nassau handle the freeze/thaw compared to a place like Six Mile? Would love to get a ride in today but definitely don't want to drive out there just to have turn back out so I don't muck up someone's hard work.

I was there Wednesday. Overall trails were fine with exception of the entrance to the new area. That was a tad slick/muddy. Lots of leaves and needles were covering the old trails.

Everything was perfect. Even that entrance to the other side of the street was tacky. I did the whole place in both directions and there wasn't a speck of dirt on my bike.

How's the place with a riding dog? Is park hot with the law? Many dog walkers who seem to be the most vocal because they can't control their stupid dog on the leash. Or should I rephrase that to the stupid owner who never tought there dog to behave without a leash.

I've taken my dog to nassau in the past. If you go early you shouldn't run into too much trouble.

I somehow missed you. I was there for a half an hour, at springside from 4 to 4:30 or something like that.

Good stuff ! some leaves, not bad tho. localized slime on a north slope heading into the new section.

get there today!

place was tip top this morning. I only gave it a "3" because there was a slight amount of slick grease, but i think it was only an optical illusion because my bike and tires were spotless after the ride. I did not ride the short track course loop though, just the lower nassau parking lot area loop and across the street.

Got out there yesterday for the first time in a couple years. Trails were in great shape except for the first couple switch backs after the road crossing. Anyone know the milage of the park if you take the outer most trails all around the perimeter?

A pretty rough guess from someone that rides here with some frequency....about 5 miles.

If I go on my lunch break, I essentially end up riding most of the perimeter of the bottom section, with a few twists, then I cheat and take the field up into the upper section, ride the top loop and come out the trail to the lower lot. Doing that I'm usually in the 5-5.5 mile range depending on how I mix up the bottom portion and if/how badly strava messes up.

The nice thing with this place is you can really mix up your routes, especially on the lower side. Riding the same trails in different direcions and mixes of routes makes them feel "fresh". At least it does to me. I found the lower section confusing at first, but now I appreciate it.

We has a discussion about the 'lower lot' -

is it the one closest to east main or is it wilson? According to strava, the one near wilson is 20' lower, but coming in from e. main, you have to go up and over the hill..

these things confound me. even after taking my meds.....😉

Hero dirt today , go get it !!!
**** I found a pair of gloves and a shirt on the road . Contact me ****
