Need help with stuck seatpost

Sometimes the post welds itself on to the frame so bad that hacksaw is the only option. If this is the case, be prepared for spend a few days + lots of curses cutting it out. Don't ever let @jmanic start hitting it with a screwdriver and hammer.

Since the seat post actually moved in your case, I suspect it can still be twist off.

I grease the hell out of all my seat posts, esp aluminum to steel.

My old '90's steel GT had the aluminum post essentially weldedninto the frame. I basically did this. Bought a 12 pack and several hacksaw blades. Drank beer listened to the radio and used hacksaw blades wrapped with a rag as a handle to cut a slit through the post in the frame. Once it was cut through, I used a pipe wrench to move the post. It crumpled on itself and came out.

Whole Process was no fun at all,and I tried several things prior, but the two dis-similar metals had literally welded hemselves together and this was pretty much the only option. Several beers and good tunes made the process tolerable. Good luck!

Thank you for recommending Tenafly Bicycle Workshop. They were finally able to remove the stuck post and were even able to save it 🙂) Now the fun begins !

HAPPY EASTER!
How about aluminum Post and carbon frame

Neighbor with lots of tools trying to help me out. We separated couple inches down and still not able to twist off. Packed up after a couple hours and let the PB sit and will repeat let spray PB for a few days. We left a couple inches afob post to work with but that’s turned into shreds. Not sure if anyone makes a tool but should extend to the bottom, expand and grab the edges of the seatpost, and then you can somehow lift it up . Break it free with a sledge.

Following, same question but I have a Mach 429 frame with the same issue. My post is a Reverb though.
Some kind of a slide hammer must exhist for this. Twisting with a pipe wrench in the vice didn’t work.

@jdog

Halters has what you need. It seems to be a fairly common issue with the 429.

You get a coupling nut for a slide hammer, and install a threaded rod. Get the thickest fender washer you can find that is the same diameter of the post, then file flats on the side O->0. Slide it in the post, then once it's past, it'll flip upright.

Hammer away.

Man, that really scares me using a sawzall within a carbon frame…

@Karate Monkey
Where does the washer go? Can you please sketch a diagram? I’m not getting the last part about it flipping upright.
Thanks!
I left out a few steps that might be necessary.

Slide hammer --> coupling nut--> long threaded rod -- prepared washer --> two nuts under the washer, tightened against each other

The washer gets flipped "up" to side into the post, and when it passes the post, it flips back down.
