going with some casual bike riders
gravel carriage roads will be what we can handle

I understand there is a daily fee in Mohonk Preserve or parking fee in Minnewaska.

Will definitely hike or ride to Awosting Falls. I'm a little confused if this is Mohonk or Minnewaska as it seems accessible by both.

Any other spots/loops you'd recommend within Mohonk, Minnewaska, or even free around the area? Lots of info out there but would like to hear your experiences. THANKS!

Been to both. Pay by person at Mohonk. Pay by car at Minnewaska. Lots of riders like Mohonk better but I think Minnewaska has more to offer.

There is a free parking using the River to Ridge access just outside of town. This involves climbing to get up to the Shawangunks as well as mileage. I would not recommend if going with casual bikers.

Id park at Minnewaska, its cheaper and you are closer to Awosting Falls, which is in Minnewaska Preserve. You could also loop lake Awosting.

Trapps road connects Minnewaska to Mohonk, Its on trailforks. You could loop Undercliff to Overcliff at Mohonk.

Id strongly recommend using an app to follow a route. There are a lot of intersections. A 1.5 hour ride could turn into 3 if you dont know where you're going. Minnewaska & Mohonk are pretty big.

Minnewaska is more scenic and less climbing as I recall if you start at the upper parking lot. Trail surface in either is fine for casual bikers. It’s been a while but I think the trail around Lake Awosting is now closed for reconstruction. Go weekdays if you can. Lots fill up quick.

Note some trail closures due to carriage road restoration project.
