I had the ingenious idea of doing back to back races, 35+ and the B race because I wouldnt be back for the Sunday race. It turned out the way it should of- Disaster.
For the first race I had a decent start from the 4th row and made some good passes on the straightaways to move up to Norms group. I kept the hammer down past his group, taking turns way to fast. Dialed it back a bit but hit a chunk of a stick and the front end slides out. I go down and when I go to grab my bike a superflying Norm sprawls out over my ride.
We untangle bikes, assess the damage and watch 40 guys fly by. I stop again to straighten my hoods then gas it. Lesson #2- Dont try and get back all your spots in one lap. Spend the rest of the race recovering from that lap but kept it steady and finished 58th. Didnt notice but my front brake was dragging hard since the crash but it was good resistance training. Unhooked brake for the next race
B-race- I knew I had nothing left so I started dead last. Just rode steady till my calves finally seized after the run-up with one to go. Now I know why nobody pulls doubles at these. Forgot the pain that it takes to compete in just one. Silly Fun though. The front of my ankles still hurt
