NY towns like New Hope

Looking for a place in NY similar to New Hope to spend a night w/ the Mrs. The biggest criteria are walkable, good restaurant selection, nice atmosphere, and within 2 hours of Central NJ.

Beacon NY looks like it has potential, would like to see if there are others I’m missing.

Beacon would actually get my vote. Can go to the museum and the downtown has a ton of shops/restaurants etc. If you like hiking Breakneck Ridge is awesome if not painful.

Cold Springs and Beacon were the first 2 on my radar, but the accommodations seem limited (apartments vs full houses). I'm leaning towards New Paltz at the moment due to better AirBNB selection.

Woodstock, New Paltz and Cold Springs in that order but Saratoga Springs has the SMBA trails that are epic, plus more better food. Unless horse race season which is too crowded and expensive.

Enjoyed all four and would go back.

Another vote for Cold Springs. You can get a Seastreak ferry up the Hudson during the fall and stay the night and take the ferry back. - With an open bar. Jus sayin. There is a cool place to spend the night right on the water called the River Inn.

And both New Paltz and Cold Spring have great Gravel biking from town.

Ski resorts have lots of options, thinking Hunter and Windham. Tannersville is a nice quiet town. Stayed at Scribners Lodge many times, highly recommended

I know you said NY, but Milford PA was a surprisingly pleasant spot for a weekend. Just a thought.

Otherwise I'd say Beacon is probably more like New Hope. New Paltz would be better if you want quick access to hiking + farms, but not as interesting for restaurants etc.

Based on the criteria you’ve given, I would highly recommend Hudson, NY.
Have you been lately?

We went to a show when Club Helsinki just opened up and thought the town was great. Lots of shops, good food etc. Ended up there for another show and the town seemed to lose a lot of restaurants and Club Helsinki closed shortly after. Hopefully it's recovered.

If doing a weekend I would:
Friday - Drive up to Hudson dinner and stay overnight.
Saturday - All day in Hudson. Drive down to Beacon, dinner and stay overnight.
Sunday - All day in Beacon, drive home.
