NYC PABT Commuters

this is like watching the pregnant giraffe, good work to break the day up
even better would be to drop in a GPS tracer incase it does get stolen

@rick81721, do you still have that spying piece, I'm will to pick up just to add to the drama

Haha yes I do. The actual size of the hardware is 2.5" × 1.5" × 1" so it's somewhat conspicuous but you could hide it under the saddle. Package says usable for bikes.

Was going to do a simple recap.... err... more along the lines of my thoughts about commuting via bike at the end of the week. Day 1 was a bit nerve wracking but still fun. Day 2 i would describe it as exciting.

i will start to suck with you start dealing with showers, what you got planned? Also where's your fender and mud flaps from a milk carton, showers being forecasted tomorrow and Friday

how much you want for it? PM me
I have a big saddle I'm willing to cut up for this adventure

Bad weather days, I'll just take the subway. My metrocard still has about $40 in there.

Same price as before - free. Just collecting dust in the garage. Let me know when you want to pick it up.
sooner than later, before the POSS gets stolen and the fun is gone
how about early Saturday? I'll do either 6mr or Sourlands depending on conditions
you can just leave it in your mailbox the night before, will let you know Friday

Is this saddle too big for your ass? should fit the gps tracker doe
might have something smaller,

Yes... too big. Let's not dork out the POSS too much 😛
2.5x1.5x1... should fit on top of the saddle rail on my current saddle no?

yes, but some one will steal that before your bike. We'll need to think of a way to hide it

maybe a homemade rear fender with trick compartment for the gps

I assume this takes a battery? How long does it last?

Says up to 21 days. Even has a motion detection mode where it alerts you via phone app and starts tracking. Here's the catch tho, you have to subscribe to 1 yr service and the company that originally sold it (It's an eZoom) got bought by another company so I'm not even sure if they support it.

Bummer, I was sensing a thread of the year nomination...

what's the name of the device?

My commute is from PABT to Thomas on W Broadway. I have been taking 7th ave down and 8th ave up which are the most direct routes. Wondering if taking the greenway would faster due to less lights? Thoughts?

For me Greenway is not faster. Going East/West + the curve around 23rd St really adds more time than you think. If you only ride the bike lanes + stop on all the lights, it might be about the same.

If I want to get downtown as fast as possible, I try to ride with the cars. I find myself passing them more than they pass me. I do feel more relaxed riding the Greenway though.
