Pearl glad you're ok. I clipped a tree too but I hit the dirt rather than another tree. My legs from the knees down are starting to looking like I've been crawling over barbed wire. Iwas sitting on the couch last night and noticed some bumps on my right shin - at first thought they were ticks but turned out to be two rose thorns imbedded in my leg.

On CPU the post from fap-a-talk is small so capers, who works in front if 3 CPU's, feels the need to poke fun. It's cool doe... we'll see who comes to the rescue the next time he can't open the hood of his car of figure out how to pump his gas

What a rough weekend for me. Not sure where to really go with this so I'm just going to let it flow.

Friday was a beautiful day and I really wanted to get out. The wounds have scabbed over and besides not having a full grip on my left hand, everything was fine. I felt a little tired but refreshed. Kind of just rolled with the terrain and enjoyed the sun.

I've been craving some Mexican food and didn't want to deal with the cattle-like lines of Chipotle, so I talked Mandi into heading to the local spot. Oh yes, The Mexican spot. It's right in Hillsborough off Amwell, La Costeñita.

Sadly we hit it at the worst possible time and had to wait about 25 minutes for our food as the place was packed. Oh well, now we know. Every other time I've went it was quiet and I waited maybe 10 minutes. Wood recommend. The portions aren't huge but they are realistic. The rest of the evening was chill.

Saturday morning hits and I wish we could sleep in, but this freaking cat is a robot. She just can't sleep past 7AM. Is this what kids are like? We meet with out Pastor that is doing our wedding ceremony and he tells us all these little bits of info about how to have a good marriage; You will see each other at their worst, etc etc. I'm not sure how different marriage will be, seeing how we have lived together for over 4 years and hashed out any differences and issues then. Also I have no doubt in my mind that our Pastor was a bad ass dude in his time. He kept reminding us "I wasn't always a Pastor.."

Even though we just had Mexican food, we just HAPPEN to be in the same complex as Moe's. Until today, I didnt realize we had Mexican back to back. But I was starving.

Eventually we get home and head out and it seemed like a perfect day to try and match Kevin's Coppermine time. Nice long cruise on the canal and I let it rip. I feel okay and eventually get into a grove. The wind is in my face at the top of the climb, but I'm still keeping a good pace. Coast down Old Georgetown and I can only guess how fast I went, but I felt pretty good about it.

And we got ice cream. Yup.

At the time of this upload, I was 5 seconds off Kevin. But he just had to create more of a gap this morning and now it's at ten seconds. I think I can do this :getsome:

And speaking of Strava, another dude just jacked my local flat to slight hill segment. FRUUUUUU

We eventually make our way over to Bill and Lisas new spot, which is about 3 miles from our current HQ. House is super cool and has a huge yard. Tip them off about the Mexican joint down the street and some other good eats. I warned them that I will be showing up uninvited whenever boredom hits.

We head home and gather our goods and pack up the car for tomorrow.

Sunday Yes, Sunday morning. This 10AM start is pretty cool. Don't have to wake up before the sun and I could have probably gotten away without setting an alarm.

Wawayanda last year was my first Cat 1 race. It was bad. I exploded before we even got into the ST. I figure this time I know a lot more about the hot pace, warming up, etc etc. My new found roadie senses should help a little too.

Head out with Jeremy and Utah to warm up and ride the Sitting Bear trail. 4 minutes into riding on some double track I flat my rear tire. Really? I know this tire is on it's last leg, but I figured I wouldn't flat here. I quickly change this and the Fat co2 I have doesn't give me enough pressure to ride this out. I walk back to the feed zone and run into a gentlemen in a Sids/Sidi? jersey and he lets me borrow his pump as the Cat 3 racers are coming though. Pump and I'm good to go. Even though part of the tube is sticking out of the tread, I really don't have much of an option at this point, 5 minutes until 10AM.

I try and warm up a little more and I'm okay with it, I could have used more spinning but it will do. Get to the line at 9:55 and wait. Until 10:20 until we actually go off. Which kind of sucked.

I'm in the middle of the pack and hammer out on the road; I look down at one point and we are doing 28MPH, really? Is this necessary? I try to latch the wheel in front and have to shift, I come close. I hammer out the pedals even more and my chain starts skipping. I don't need that big of a gear and try and close the gap more and more. It's not closing. We slow down for the right hand turn and I don't make up anymore time. My only goal was to be in the mix until the ST, but I didn't even do that this time. Okay, back to work.

About 3 minutes later I get hung up on a uphill rock after taking a crappy line. Gives me time to relax a little and compose myself. I know I'm racing myself now. Couple times I have to wait for the leaders of other classes to come by, and I jump back on and can ride with the tail end of the group a little.

At one point my chain drops from the big to the little ring, and then into the frame/bb area. Okay, I fix it. More people in other races pass. I eventually get to the Red Dot climb and I'm with 26er. We actually pass someone who may have been in my class, and I get a little spark of energy. I'm in a zone and matching 26ers pace for a while. We hit the steeper part of the trail and I can't spin the big ring efficiently anymore and drop it down the the small ring. I match the speed though.

Then my chain drops into the BB area again. WTF? I get it back on the ring and try and hammer it out. Drops again. I do this three times until I realize something else is wrong. I can get about half pedal stroke in and then it is inoperable. I realize i twisted a link somehow, likely when I dropped it the first time. My day is over. 4.5 Miles and 23 minutes of "racing".

A good bike would have kept me in the race, but I have no idea what else would have happened. I know I wouldn't have placed much better than I did today, but I would have at least got a ride in. I also think I'm smoked. Every weekend since Battenkill I've raced. I think my body is trying to tell me something. Thankfully I can't race this weekend.

I also need to go faster on my bike.

I hike back down, just like last year, into the camp site. I claim that I'm first! Someone claims I'm actually the 4th person to DNF, so I can't even podium losing. It was a rough day for sure.

I cheer everyone else on and enjoy the sun. Enough to get sun burnt. We enjoy some grub with Ken and company at this deli on the way home and eventually make our way the Dunns place for pizza and Coronas. I did not have a Corona. Watched some Iron Man with little Tufford and company and chatted about cats and other cycling adventures that happened this weekend. It's hard to tell yourself not to goto these races because I have such a good time chatting up with everyone before and after. I enjoy the stories and having stories to tell. I need to start telling some better ones though.

Wow I suck, not one photo. Looks like a Glick recap.

Treats.

12 secs 🙂, I KOM'd the hill at the bottom and almost f'ing blew apart after that. If you look at the other segments there, you were ahead of me, so like I said, you will be above me in time.

No worries son, waywayanda is tough on equipment and mental health.

You need a new tire 🙂

Now that's funny

Maybe you should go back to SS ;-p you jinxed yourself.

Exactly what I was thinking .

JP, I love those Taco's. I like that there not that big because I eat 2 and the second 1 taste so much better..

P.S Stop racing for awhile and enjoy yourself again... Peace
