Raritan 911: Robocop

9 weeks post-surgery #1.
1 week post-surgery #2.

So I'm still here. Two packs of Medrol down. One week of Flexiril ingested. I'm slowly, very slowly, improving. This is just not what I expected. The hard surgery was easy and the easy surgery was hard.

I'm mostly resting. Some sitting, stretching, and some walking. I can drive rather fine, just not my manual tranny car at this point. The mornings and evenings bring tears to my eyes if I squat down, bend over, or sit too long. Getting in and out of bed is not fun. During the day I'm surprisingly mobile. Very strange dichotomy. My foot pain is definitely better than before surgery #2.

I'm thankful to be able to watch each and every Tour stage.

My weight is still stable, but I'm looking a little more out-of-shape. I'm guessing that I've started to lose muscle mass from being a slug. Still better than ballooning up and having to request new uniforms...

I spoke a bit with my surgeon earlier this week and he reiterated that I need to be patient. I'm trying. The constant pain is, honestly, starting to wear on me mentally. I was fine after #1. I was fine knowing I needed #2. But this is exhausting. I told him such. He admitted to spending some extra time looking around to make sure everything that needed to come out came out this time. Looking around translates to manipulating the nerve roots to peek behind them. Nerve roots, apparently, so not like that very much. I was supposed to be open 15-30 minutes. He had me open for an hour rooting around. Hopefully that's a good thing in the years to come.

After hearing the difficulty I am having (and noting the pain tolerance I had for the initial surgery), he's scheduled me for an epidural on Tuesday to decrease the inflammation in a more timely fashion. Big sigh of relief from me as my epidurals over the winter were a godsend.

Here's to hoping August is (mostly) pain free.

Is this where someone posts one of those cats in a tree?

You are looking a little soft in the middle.

hey - it would seem like the perfect time to be prescribed some hgh or anabol.

do cops get tested for steroids?

Damn I know where you can get 100mil edibles. Eat these and wall paint is fucking interesting. Elavation and pain free on big fluffy clouds. Let me know if you need a hook up 🙂

Actually he looks more like Chris Froome.

Ha, I'm not that bad yet. But another month of this and I might be.

During your probationary year, yes. After that, not without suspicion. We hired a guy who is a power lifter. Probably 5'8" and 240 pounds. He was tested three times during his probationary period; the second time was because his sample was "lost". I was tested once. The lost urine has become a long running joke.

i kinda wonder if roid rage is a contributing factor in some cases. shit's on the edge - and i never want a cop to lose a fight (the faster any confrontation ends, the better)
the place and time for a proper beating of a perp need.....er, never mind.

anyway - keep healing up - we need you at the tm sessions 😉

@Carson sorry to hear that this is wearing you down. Hope it all gets better from here.

Maybe a good cop question wwill make the pain go away. This is from a friend of mine, I'm pretty sure we all know the answer but I'm interested to hear your take on it.

To make a long story short, I was driving on the NJ turnpike early this evening. I got pulled over. The cop said he had reason to believe I was intoxicated. He took me out of the car, had me do field sobriety tests, which I failed (because those tests are impossible to do, even when sober). They put me in cuffs, arrested me, impounded my car and took me down to the station. While there, they gave me a breathalyzer, where I blew a .01, way below the legal limit, and they let me go. Now my car is still impounded until monday, despite the fact I broke no laws, yet I'm told I still gotta pay a ridiculous amount of money to get it out of the impound lot. My question is, can I be reimbursed for the impound fee, or am I just fucked? I didn't do anything wrong.

I say cane the cop who hauled you in and then pay the the fee.

That's pretty ridiculous and the cop should foot the bill plus time he wasted on your behave. Why don't they have breathalyzer available at the scene?

Trooper or local?
