Science is looking up

I was driving home tonight through Sourlands after working south in Lawrenceville and I came to an open area and was nearly blinded by the supermoon.

Pulled over into a park this was the best I could get I need to up my night photo skills like @stb222

It was so bright I felt like didn’t need headlights. Picture barely captures it but at least it was clear-ish

Looking east.
This was the least exciting part of the SpaceX/Starlink launch visible from NJ tonight.

Looking directly south, and listening to the audio, it rose above the horizon, clearly visible.
Play-by-play predicted main engine shut off, and second stage ignition. It then turned more horizontal over the sourland ridge.
Disappeared into the haze a few seconds after this pic.

I was the lead mechanical and build engineer for the optical communications modem for this mission vehicle (Orion O2O if you want to check it out). It's incredible that we delivered that unit about 5 years ago, and we were considered "very" late. 😀 Super excited to see this happen.

I’m on spring break vacation in a part of the south west considered a dark sky region. The galactic core should be visible above the horizon in the early am so my teen and I want to drive out of town to view. Hopefully the full moon doesn’t ruin it but either way I do want to give it a try while I’m out here.
