Spring Silence: Uncoiling the Fat Dragon

The question is akin to whether you should retrieve something out of a clean toilet.

Wait until your boss comes in, then grab it out of the trash and eat it in front of him. He might take away that you really value your paycheck....or that your batshit crazy and unstable...both might lead to continued employment.

unless you shovel like ben "the blizzard" tufford, you only earn 18 minutes of cardio for every hour shoveled.

I have to say that Neptune (Monmouth County) was hit pretty hard this winter... I shoveled 2 1/2 feet of snow on a 60 foot drive way... It wasn't fun

It's unclear when you dropped the peanut if it was already "deshelled" or not. Please clarify.

Is there ever such a thing as a clean toilet?

And if the peanut is still in the shell consider it protected and enjoy!

Look what the cat dragged in!

Pearl wanted a pic of the shirt so here it is. Horizontal stripes. Yeah you don’t get the slimming effect but that’s ok. I’m not here to impress so much.

Jake is the only one who got it right. Damn straight you eat the peanut. Or as it were in this case, peanuts.

Threshold work today. Going in the morning means I really need to take the push approach to everything instead of the pull. This means if my FTP is X, I do my work below, but close to, X. Pull means above X. I did 2 sets of 20m each and got 303/315 as my power. I was aiming for 300/? just to see where I can baseline myself on these early morning rides. I was happy with 303 and happier with 315. The second set shows my body waking up a bit. If I had done 8 sets I would have gotten up to 400 maybe.

Ilya asked about my hours today and I think I can maintain 10-12 comfortably. Tue-Thu is like 4.5 max right now. Sat/Sun maybe 3 each. Say 10.5 with Mon/Fri off. With this schedule I need to top out at 5 days for now until I get my adjustment taken care of. The 4.5 weekly is best case. That’s 5:00-6:30 but I just do my work and go home. Or hit snooze. So it’s likely not 1.5 each day.

Long-term I’d like to try and work in the A ride again. The next 2 weeks that’s less than likely. After that I should be able to squeeze it in. Maybe.

I think max hours if everything lines up is like 16/17. That would spit me out on Sunday pretty beat up though. I think 10-12 is fine and by doing harder work I should be ok. Not fantastic but I’ll hang in there.

Rescued Utah last night but I imagine you’ll read about that on his thread.

So Matty hooked me up by offering to mark the course next Friday. That means I can skip this weekend’s Stewart trip. Saturday I may shoot for a century. One of the most memorable rides I did this year was my Taiwan century. And the Memory Lane Century from a few years back was also pretty awesome. I may need to strike Iron Bridge Road. It’s been a long time.

Alternate options are to try a 5 hour century if I can get any takers. Utah is interested but I think you need 4 to make that one less painful.

12 freaking dollars for this thing. This city is atrociously...

12 freaking dollars for this thing. This city is atrociously expensive.

But it is good.

that's why you bring you lunch with you. be sure to put a can of cat food in a very visible position on top of whatever you prepare so no one swipes your meal from the workplace fridge.

I'd be up for this but no can do this wknd, I have to work both mornings.

A 5hr. century would be a cruise with 3 or 4 guys working together and would really help to break up the monotony.
