I can't stop watching this... the more I watch it, the more funny shit comes to mind... This is a great gif...

there is something very satisfying about taking something old and tossed aside and polishing it up to bring it back to life.

Yes I enjoy bringing things back to life. I like old things, I can't really define what it is I like or why I like it but I enjoy what I do.

Its all about challenging yourself and exploring what is in your head. I think a lot of folks do this but don't follow through or execute ideas due to apathy and or fear of failure. My 16 yr old laughs at me while I do these projects but deep down I know he is my biggest fan. If anything else I am teaching him not to be fucking lame.

My latest project I finished over the weekend, picked from an old barn and resized to fit my space. Before I finished this I am already thinking about my next project.

Much like Pearl's GIF, this is apropos of nothing ... I got home from work on Friday having stupidly trusted the weather reports that there would not be rain in my area that night, so I had planned a ride and felt that I had to follow through with it. So despite the fact that Hurricane Schwartz can go SAD, I saddled up the Hakk and headed over to the 202 parkway for a 20 miler. All was good on the ride over, but the parkway is apparently sealed very well against water seeping into the asphalt because it was one giant 10 mile long puddle. Not having fenders, this created a problem ... before I reached the Doylestown turnaround, my feet were so wet that I could feel the water sloshing around in them. This is "ungood" when the temps are below 40 degrees. I rode long enough to properly balance "hardening the f*ck up" with not having my feet "freeze the f*ck off" and then returned home. I spent Saturday softening the f*ck up in a movie theater watching Interstellar on IMAX (great movie), and then headed back out on Sunday for a jaunt through Bucks County mixing paved and dirt roads in an occasional 40 mph headwind. I offset that particular hardening with more softening throughout the evening as I spent most of the rest of the day sleeping in a chair with a cat on my lap. Finally, I headed back out to the trail this morning and froze the f*ck up (seriously, I really still can't feel my fingertips right now and it's like 4 hours after the end of my ride.) So ... net of net I think I probably broke even this week: I am no harder but perhaps also no softer than I was before I left work on Friday.

this thread has been going like the seasons go - up and down. posts about pizza guys and suck. weather and HTFU.

negative press definitely brings readers. its why we only hear horrible things in the news. we are more interested in the negative. we love to complain generally. i'm a cynic, so this is a bit awkward for me. but instead of talking about how much we all suck, or how much we are all not doing what we want, lets talk something good.

like wrenching. i was terrible at it but am getting better at it. what probably takes someone 30 minutes to do takes me an hour, but i love it. last night i played with my bike in the garage. i adjusted brakes, tweaked fenders, and just cleaned it up. the wheels spin freely, the brakes are just the way i like them again and it looks nice and clean. i had ice cold fingers that were black with crud when i was done. my hands burned when i washed them in the sink. i love that feeling sometimes.

these months leave a little less time for riding, so its a good time to get to know your gear. look it over, clean it up. make it nice and shiny. then take it out so you have to do it over again.

I love taking care of my bikes too. However, I am not knowledgable enough to do many repairs but I can clean, spiff up, change tires and tweak small things. I struggle a bit in the winter because I hate getting wet in cold weather. I wish I had an indoor washing facility. Last winter my mini pump sprayer got much use to remove salt after every ride. I am actually looking forward to Az washing weather even if it includes cow poop.🙄

We all just make up "that line", the one Bard talks about. Anything that is more badass than we want to do, well that's stupid. Anything right up to that line, well it's hard baby, so hard. Of course, in a way it's all stupid and it's all hard. It's just a different degree of poaching the egg, in a way.

I like the way Iggy thinks. In a way, he doesn't give a fuck what people think. I like that, and a lot of times think the same way. It's funny because I was not always like that. When I was a kid I was kinda the total opposite. But I guess most kids are, so whatever. I like to just try shit, just do it. I agree that it teaches anyone who watches not to be so lame, so boring, with life & the things they do.

We made cookies yesterday. This is what I ended up with, my 2 additions to the pile:

Are these amazing? Hardly. But they're different. I wanted to do that so I did it. The bike looks like a drunk made it, but so what. Maybe next time we'll do something cooler. When they came out of the oven the kids liked it, so maybe they'll think outside the cookie cutter next time. I say this now, but of course when they all want to make the Taj Mahal or the Great Wall of China, I'll be slamming my head on the table trying to explain why you can't make a cookie that's 3 inches thick. I reap what I sow in a way. Remind me of this later.

I did not ride my bike this weekend nor did I run. I have been sick, am sick, been up & down feeling like shit then ok. Honestly I'm just not caring about the bike this week. Yes it's cold but more than that is the whole run-down & sick thing. So I took a pass this weekend on any hard exercise & tried to eat well and sleep more. It worked a little, but this cold or whatever it is lingers, just won't go away.

What is good? Cookies, they are good. We made potatoes in the oven using an apple slicer. They came out really well and it's pretty easy. It doesn't cut the potato as easily but it works just fine. I imagine the first apple cut on it after the potatoes didn't taste go great. It looked pretty cool though:

Puzzle season is also here. We did a 750 piece one that Simon got for his birthday and most of a 1000 piece one that I have no idea where it came from. We have a lot yet to do. Puzzles are great for the cold:

We also saw fireworks, went for a walk in the park down in town, and did a drive by on a local town lights display that is done to music they broadcast on 92.7. It looked less than amazing driving up to it but it ended up being pretty cool.

These are all good things, I think. Well not being sick, but otherwise lots of good things.

Lifted straight from the O&A bleep game, this was screaming for it.

That one looks nice...

FWIW, this is $40 and peeps be bitching about $65. :hmmm:

FWIW I bitch about $40.00 too but that seems to be the going rate for Merino wool caps these days.

I also picked up a nice one from here. SWRVE

USA made and nice quality. I love their stuff

I wouldn't say it looks like it was made by a drunk. Cookie dough is a difficult media.

I do, however have a few critiques/observations.

1. You're wheel size looks non-standard. In a market already saturated with 12, 20, 24, 26, 27, 650, 700, 36 and numerous others I think introducing a new size seems irresponsible. I’m also fairly certain your Biopace front wheel will not be well received. Also, the “funny bike” style has been out of vogue for some time now.

2. Very good choice on the seat-mast.

3. Your seat-tube/mast appears to most likely violate the UCI 3:1 aero profile rule. Unfortunately your creation will not be in the pro peloton any time soon. Luckily, I think this should still fly for triathlons.

4. Great application on the lefty fork, however you may need to make it a righty to avoid litigation from the Cannondale Bicycle Corporation, a division of Dorel Industries.

5. Interesting use of the one sided chainstay. Not something see often!

6. Pretty aggressive head tube angle, leads me to believe this bike will handle very quickly. Rear wheel is also tucked in pretty close to the seat tube, however most aero seat tubes cut out space for the tire. This leads me to believe you have more of a sport touring/cyclocross length chainstay.

7. If there were cranks on there I would have concern about toe box overlap, however there are non.

8. If I were making a tri bike I wouldn’t have used commuter bars, but that ‘s a subjective statement.

Norm, this could be the greatest upright tri push-funny sport tourer ever made.

Keep up the great work.

I don't what's funnier... That GIF Pearl posted or this.. Followed by the edited Bleep game response to Clarkstain's wrench'n post.

Thoroughly entertained today, Thanks gents!

dude, you gonna steal your thread again anytime soon?

I might, but I think you should. So as the teacher, I'm calling on you.

Tell us your best beer & sales story from when you were in Boston.

As for me, I've been sick-ish for at least 2 weeks. Today I think I am finally coming out of the woods. But it's been a suck-ass few weeks with this nagging cold that won't quit.

I think I've had the same shitty cold. Not bad enough to wipe you out, but still enough to suck.
It started around thanksgiving and I think my ride yesterday helped clear it out.

Sometimes when I get dressed to go out to ride, I put my jersey on 1st after I realized I am going to wear bib shorts. Then I have to take my jersey off and start all over. I hate when I do that.
