Take Your Lane bike flag, leveraging the 3' rule that many states have.
Is it just me or are you asking for this to get ripped off or scratch a car and you get your face pushed it because of it?

The main issue I see is that the 3' rule is to give cyclist 3' when passing in / on a motor vehicle, not to allow you to ride 3' into the lane and then you get 3'.

@gtluke won't buy just because of the camera configuration

the soccer mom will still drive by and honk at you and be like

wow. someone would give you three feet and then three feet because of the flag and end up in a head-on collision. or they just focus on this dumb flag and like a moth to light drive right over you staring at it.

I rode in an event with this guy ten years ago. Way ahead of his time. With a fiberglass pole pointed right at riders' spokes...I stayed very far away.

I'm not a big fan of the 3' laws. Just another unenforceable law that most do not understand. Many roads are not wide enough for such rules. Motorists are not going to wait until the road is clear ahead to pass over the yellow. 1 foot or ten feet, it doesn't matter.

All I ask for is 1 inch. I don't care how close you pass. Just don't friggin hit me. Car buzz me occasionally and I think to myself, "Well, at least I'm still riding my bike! Carry on!"

Cars buzz me occasionally and I get pissed because it is so unnecessary and dangererous for the cyclist. I do agree when there are times when the road is not wide enough to give a bike 3', in this case slow down and pass the bike in a predictable manner. What usually happens is the car speeds up and crosses the yellow line to get by or speeds up and buzz's the cyclist.

On occassion I run heavy machinery(backho's, dozers) and I work very close to laborers. The same common sense applies, slow it down and operate predictably.

Sadly most motorists have a very poor sense of measurement from behind the wheel. Knowing how to move over 1' posses great difficulty for most of them.
