Tariffs...what to make of them.

Nothing crazier than thinking rich people will work together to be come richer…..🙄
Scott, I have to say, you are a bit of a tough read. I get that Trump is a shithead and doing a lot of things that add volatility to the markets. I think generally with any new party in office like every four years the market usually corrects a bit. Whether he did this intentionally or not, it’s tough to say. He says he did, But corrections also happened and it was long overdue for a correction in this market. Are you looking to make the US a complete socialistic country, just don’t like Republicans or did this in some direct way affect you? Personally, I would like to see some sort of universal healthcare, maybe a little regulation on the banks but otherwise a free market system INV billionaires as they are worth so much damn money and it seems to be easy for them, but we don’t get the best of both worlds I feel. The free market sucks for the lower class for the middle and upper class. It does give a lot of opportunity.

Be careful, the moment you ask for "some sort of universal healthcare" repubs will call you socialist.

On one hand, I would think businesses would love to not have to deal with the HR nightmare that is the health insurance market. Seems like a Medicare line-item in the payroll would require a lot less paperwork and HR administrative costs...

That said, how many feel stuck to their job because of the healthcare plan no matter how crappy it may be? Even more so if you have kids?

So I suppose it's a double-edged sword in the business world...

One thing about health care is that a car built here is $1500.00 more than in Canada. This was an AI generated answer, but I did remember reading about this sometime ago.

So how other developed countries can have universal healthcare and we can't do it?

And the US has the biggest GDP of them all and we spend 20% of it on healthcare. we are the highest by a wide margin. I know the HMO's can be a nightmare, but we do have some amazing healthcare. People travel across the world to see our experts.

I have no idea why we can't do it better. I have some guesses, but that's all they would be.

A big part of the reason I am working back in Jersey. Saving $680 a month.

less in the way of tort law
lower requirements to become a dr
, Probably not, probably something like their taxes go to something worth something. We pay damn near as much in taxes as a socialist country. Plus we have to pay for healthcare and education. They get it for free.

You know why healthcare is so big in the US? Because we treat symptoms, we don’t cure the problem. This way you get to be on medicine for the rest of your life. $$$$$ for big Pharma, yay. In my opinion, anyone working for a pharmaceutical company is part of the big huge scam.

I know a lot of people really feel that way, and there are definitely bad actors, as there are in any industry. There are lot of scientists in Pharma that are really looking out to try to cure cancers and other horrible diseases. I know this will be a very unpopular statement, but they are a lot of noble people in the pharma industry trying to make the world a better place.

Healthcare is for profit. That explains a lot.
No doubt, and many hospital systems are labeled non-profit with CEO's making 7 figures. Makes no sense.

Undoubtedly, the amount of unnecessary tests that are done, increases the costs as well. Also the amount of regulation and just HIPPA, and then different lobbying groups mandating very simple things need to be some by a licensed person is absurd.

Something as simple as colonoscopies, they only do them in europe if a simple FIT test would suggest an issue. It's crazy.
