Tariffs...what to make of them.

That car that suddenly banged a u-ey from a parking space without any blinker or notice back in 2013 seemed a little hostile to me, after I drilled the driver side door and spent the weekend in the trauma unit. Which mean's trump will suspend the use of all blinkers and brake lights.

Cycling in general is an "elitist" activity usually done by libs so anything he does to upset them will appeal to his base. And time and time again, his base has supported "owning the Libs" at every opportunity, even if to their own detriment.

Just saw another bike we have sold well in 2025 go from $2899 to $3799. The bike is unchanged in any way with the exception of price.

China is certainly not paying these tariffs. (but I wish they would).
I have a VERY maga family member who just told me about the $18,000 he had to pay on a product he imports from India.......
BUT ITS NOT A TAX!!!!!!!!!!

I'm enough of a gear hub nerd to have priced the components needed to change my alfine 11 commuter to a rohloff. The hub alone on eBay has gone $1200 to $1600 over the last year

While trying to stay apolitical... This is not a great trend.

I quote the late, great Mitch Hedburg who once wrote.....

An escalator can never break: it can only become stairs. You should never see an Escalator Temporarily Out Of Order sign, just Escalator Temporarily Stairs. Sorry for the convenience.

Escalators do hold great symbolic meaning in the MAGA Mythos, as the Trumpian Era dates from the legendary 2015 moment he came down the escalator.

Has to be more to this story....Not that it would surprise me to learn that factories in Taiwan aren't a LOVELY place to work....but that didnt happen overnight...,and since like 99% of bikes/parts are made overseas.....whose telling on who? Why is this the first we are hearing of something like this? Have they been to the iphone factory?

"The government said that those factors had allowed the company to price its products for less than what American bicycle producers charge, resulting in “millions of dollars in unjustly earned profits.”

Ok so either the CEO of Giant didnt present dear leader with a golden bicycle, or perhaps the CEO of Santa Cruz did. 😂
