The Indoor Cyclist's support thread

@JonF thanks for the update. Running 1x11 and was trying to figure if it was worth the extra for the $ for the play controllers vs the cog + click.

I would say some of the main deciding factors are that that Play controllers are only for drop bar setups vs Click primarily for MTB but could also be used for drop bars. Cog isn't necessary if you already have a cassette, any cassette, since the rear mech becomes obsolete. Play controllers are still "on sale" for now which makes them only slightly more than Cog/Click and offers a lot of other functionality if you use Zwift controls during the ride.

interesting - this could simplify my plans to try and upgrade the basement beater road bike from 8 speed to 10 speed since I dont seem to have enough gearing for the races and any hill climbing. For workouts its been fine but I was thinking at least 10 speed would help.

Im running an older wheel on Magnus smart trainer will have to see if the virtual shifting works with this trainer too.

Virtual shifting only works with a Zwift hub for now.

Did 2 rides using the climb portal. Great way to get in some hill work. As @Norm told me. Now's the time to climb.

Funny I just spent 10 minutes earlier debating the value/risk of riding before work tmw morning in the dark and cold or to ride zwift and try another climb in the portal.

I settled on zwift mostly because it’s too dark at 6:30am to feel safe on the road it’s bad enough during the day. Plus indoor I can get a better structured workout

this is the new platform they will use for UCI eSports Cycling Championship as they won out over Zwift for the event for the next 3 years.

It's not free and I haven't checked it out or really plan to since I don't see it works on AppleTV.

The reason they didn't do that is the complications of the refund process that doesn't exist with the monthly version.

Picked up the new Zwift Hub One with the virtual shifting. Definitely an upgrade over the wheel on trainer I was using before. I been using it for about 3 weeks now and the virtual shifting actually works great. Easy to get used to. Power readings are lower compared to my old trainer but I don’t think the old one was very accurate.

So far I am happy with it but it sounds like they are going to phase it out in favor of Wahoo stuff going forward.

I am also using Apple TV to connect to Zwift now. Was using a PC previously and the Apple set up is so much more convenient and easy compared to hooking up the laptop every time I wanted to ride.
