The what new bike are you considering thread

C'mon buddy, you know it's recumbent time.

OK maybe this?

Anything but Pivot. I ran into a couple of Pivot representatives at Creek this summer, what a bunch of A-Holes.

I have not gotten a new bike in 3 years.

As an early Christmas present I'm got a new frame (Kona Operator) and now buying parts to build a new Downhill Bike.

I’d like to hear more about this situation. There is a new pivot rep this summer, and I know for certain he hasn’t been to creek once this year. He’s by far one of the most honest and conscientious reps I’ve ever dealt with. The response we had last week at our pivot demo day was overwhelmingly positive.

So ill preface this with what I have first....

My scalpel race bike

my 2013 trigger 29er that has around 8000+ miles on it....still works perfectly and I still love it.

Im looking to replace my trigger with something all mountain/enduro....like my trigger, i want it to be awesome downhill, but I often to rides like TOS to ringwood and back with some fast guys for ~3hrs...so it cant be a complete battleship.

Tried a bronson for 3 days in kingdom and LOVED it....would like to try one in some rocks around here tho.
tried a mach 429 trail...great bike, but a little more towards the XC side than the enduro side for what im looking for. if I didnt have my scalpel already, id probably get this bike.
tried a megatower....awesome downhill, but too much bike to pedal around
tried a pivot firebird...felt very similar to the megatower to me. I dont get to DH parks or do enough enduro races to use something this big.
tried a TB4 at the festival....im thinking it was set up very incorrectly bc I swear it made my scalpel feel plush. I didnt have my shock pump on me for this test spin, so ill need to try this again sometime. set up really is EVERYTHING so
SC blur....great bike...if I was looking to replace my scalpel, this would be my first choice...but im not right now.
Hoping to get a ride on @jdogs demo hightower soon. So ill have to revisit after I give that a try.

I will say much to my disappointment....ALL of the bikes I have tried have had either fox 34, 36 or rockshox forks.....I have to be honest, I havent liked any of them as much as my 8000+ miles lefty supermax. Ill just have to put this lefty on my new bike I guess.

so far my favorite has been the bronson but I need to ride it on something like tiger blood....
Anytime you want to borrow my Hightower just let me know. It's probably set up all wrong for you, because it's probably set up all wrong for me too. ? Just let me knowand I'll bring it in. Just let me if you want 29 or 27+ or both.

He already stole my new Hightower demo this weekend and has been texting me like crazy how it’s the best bike ever.

I've been intrigued by what I've heard about the new F-Podium DC RR. Never owned a Mondraker and just something different...

Allaire’s no joke... just go so fast there. With a splash of gnar. It’s not the speed but the sudden stop.

Have you thrown a leg over the zero suspension system? I been hearing nothing but good about this design...
Yes demoed one last year . It was pretty awesome but didn't get any proper runs on it just slower tech and it was surprisingly easy to ride for such a long bike ( medium reach is 470 ) . I've been itching to ride one on some proper descents . The prices are a lil hard to swallow but the used market looks pretty promising.

Before you consider used, reach out and see what I might be able to make happen.

I'm considering a modern geometry trail 27.5 hardtail as my backup bike. 2001 XC hardtail just isn't cutting it anywhere but 6MR and LewMo anymore for me. Transition Throttle is drool-worthy but since this is a backup bike, i may need to go with something a little less flashy. Honzo is on the list, but what else should i look at? Problem is it's hard to find a 27.5 non-plus hardtail these days. If i get a plus bike and change it to non-plus, does that screw up the geometry, bb height, ride quality, etc. that much? I also don't want anything super crazy slack since this will be a NJ rocky tech bike.
