Things that make you frown :(

Also how's your attic ventilation, I added a huge attic fan last year and it helped the upstairs bedrooms cooling especially at night
i have the one big exhaust fan that faces one side of the attic and blows out via built in louvers and is on a thermostat. I upgraded that fan probably 5-6 years back when the old one stopped working. wife even asked to check if it was still working and I am sure it is since I can feel the very slight vibration on the wall when its on, and in the side yard you can smell the "attic air".

What is big?

If it is creating negative pressure in the attic, it could be pulling air from inside the house out.... Which means outside air is replacing it.

Was out mowing the grass the other day and noticed the transformer on the utility pole was leaking and raining some foul smelling liquid into the ground. Smelled like a cross between petroleum and moth balls.

I called jcpl hotline to report but there's no "leaking transformer" option on the option tree so I choose the line down option. I explained to the operator the thing was pissing oil pretty bad and they keep asking about a downed line. They took the report and it clearly got noticed since a bucket truck came by an hour later.

The bucket truck only came to inspect and apparently contain as he more or less just put a bag on the transformer to contain the leak. About another hour later a hazmat looking cleanup crew came out along with another bucket truck to get it swapped out. They drained it, swapped it and refilled, then proceeded to dig out all the affected grass and dirt around the pole and refill with clean soil. All that and only lost power for less than 10 mins for the switch over.

Not sure what would have happened if it completely lost all fluid but I had visions of a far too intimate fireworks display in the front yard dancing in my head. 😂

Just to put things in perspective....

Young accounting employee, after going back and forth within the IT department looking for who knows what, finally comes to my office and..

GenXZ: eh, my phone doesn't work...

Me:I'm assuming the Company phone, yes?

GenXZ: eh, I guess, I was was using mine before and it worked.

Me: Ah, Ok. Whatever. What happens to be the problem?

GenXZ: I can't get in...

Me: in what, the phone, your e-mail, Teams ? Can you be a little bit more specific? You get an error message and it says what?

GenXZ: eh, mail...

Me: what happens when you log in? Do you get an error message? Also, what is your username so I can check if it is blocked?

GenXZ: username?

Me: yes, what is your username, the one you use to log in to your devices, you know windows on your PC, your e-mail etc.

GenXZ: I don't know.

Me: it's you name dot lastname etc.

and on and on and on....

So be patient with your IT as they probably have to deal with someone like this every day.

In my case on top of my job I have to entertain help desk duties since I'm told we can't afford extra headcount to deal with it, which means I can no longer do my job properly and on new projects because calls like the one above everyday from both the office and 50+ stores across the US.

You mentioned young accounting employee. That doesn't sound like a Gen Xer.
