Things that make you frown :(

Well.

If you look hourly, Saturday morning looks clear now so you can get a ride in. Then you get some chance of rain which, objectively, will help water down this pollen hell and if we're being honest, the trails can already use. They're already getting dusty.

Then Sunday you have a few hours if you really get out semi-early. And they percentage is like 50% so it may not rain anyway on Sunday.

Monday looks shitty but whatever, that's another week.
Also, MONDAY doing Monday things, kinda like STEVE doing Steve things?

Soccer Saturday so that’s out (for me). But early Sunday is the plan.

And I agree we could used some water on the trials and pollen, it’s just depressing to see significant rain for most of the extended forecast. Especially given the fact that we just now seem to be coming out of the Feb/March dreariness that’s managed to shit all over much of April too.

I think we have moved into the season where the rain gets absorbed immediately by the trees. Everything is pretty thirsty right now.

If there is one thing I learned it is to never plan on the forecast, for riding that is. Looks at last weekend, one day was supposed to be a rain out and it was spotty.

You had me feeling way under prepared last year with your elaborate rain gear setup, lol. I'm signed up for the long course but just realized I don't have anyone to watch the kids, so I'll probably be a no show 🤬
Ah that’s a bummer.

Haha yeah well I have too many miles riding in the rain. Last year it ended up not that bad and the metric riders got poured on and we only got drizzle rain the last 5 miles.

Sunday looks like I’ll be wet all day. I’ll decide if I even do the whole 75 or cut it short during the ride.

Where checking the forecast, doesn't look bad at all by me?

yup - of course the forecast changed for sunday right after I signed up for the Pinelands Gravel 75 miler - another wet gravel ride event - ugh.
How did your ride go? Did the rain hold off for a bit? My last ride through Delaware Water Gap on Friday was sunny until I got a flat. Pulled over to fix it and checked phone for forecast cause of approaching dark clouds and saw that thunderstorms were coming through in less than 15 minutes. Fixed the flat and found refuge at a nearby campground. 20 minutes later it was sunny again. I guess it's a frown and a smile.

It was a mix of good and bad but it’s a great event.

Cloudy and warm the first 33 miles. Got poured on until mile 55. Let up a bit until mile 68. Downpours for the last 13 miles. In between lots of sugar sand segments to navigate but I only fell once and walked a few times.

The only saving grace was it was warm above 65F most of the day but it was pretty rough at the end.

This is my 4th time doing this event and is still go back. Just a few of about 20 pics I took.
