This Thread Blows - C19 and beyond

A friend/co-worker of my WIfe has been in the hospital for the past week. Pulmonary embolism, pneumonia and on oxygen for the duration. He's from the South and refused to get vaccinated because he didn't want the government telling him what to do. His live in Fiance just joined him with a room down the hall. 2 confused kids at home.

Heading to Pittsburgh tomorrow where I hear many restaurants are requiring proof of vaccination in order to dine. I have no problem with that.

And it looks like the CDC is pushing masking up again.

On a brighter note, I received 22 bikes in the past week. Been a while.
I was telling my boss that the company policy should be while we are not forcing any employees to get vaccinated, if you are unvaccinated and get sick the time should come off your vacation time.

They would have to apply that policy to every disease. Got the flu but didn't get vaccinated - take your own time. Got shingles but didn't get vaccinated - take your own time. Got hepatitis but you didn't get vaccinated...

I remember working for the car dealership in the 70's. We had 5 sick days a year when I started.
I worked there for 9 years. Over that time the sick days went from 5 down to 0.
Come to work, get paid. No show, no pay.

So it warrants being handled like the new, never before seen, super virus it seems to be, with new rules being made up as we go, no? If it was just the flu would we still be talking about it? When's the last time the flu generated 8,433 posts on a mtn bike forum?

Why do you keep saying "just the flu"? Who is making that claim? But it is basically a super-flu. I'm all for vaccine mandates but even the feds can't do it - they are still leaving the option of getting regularly tested in lieu of a vaccine. Too bad the government botched this by scaring off millions of people from getting vaccines when they paused J&J back in April.

I noticed Panera is back to having signs that you must wear a mask inside. Noticed tons of mask usage everywhere.
