This Thread Blows - C19 and beyond

Yes. What a hilarious and dumb movie. Up my alley for sure. Fun fact, I finished it while waiting for my PCR test.

‘The silent sea’ looks like a good show..

to name a few, completed
-army of the dead
-army of thieves
-the harder they fall
-witcher
-Schumacher
-simultaneously watched Encanto and with walk-in talkies
-the unforgivable

I would go "Goliath" S1, 2 & 4

"True Detective" S1, 2 (subpar) and 3

"The Wire" S1-5

"Sopranos" ALL

2nd TIER:

"Billions" ---Stevie Cohen was a trader at Gruntal, an early career, boutique brokerage client, when all securites had to physically transact south of the Holland Tunnel in Manhattan. LIke, remanant from pre DTC days.

"Bosch"---just because Titus Welliver has a reputation of mistreating people.

"Breaking Bad"---was never into meth, but knew a dozen guys who were.

"Zombieland"---is there any other kind?

Ain’t nobody here know what DTC is….

What a disappointment that movie was, with the cast and talent like they had, it was pretty weak.

Mrs. G and I watched it together with a pizza. Her assessment was "Sophmoric," but then again, she didn't like Caddyshack and Animal House. Thought it had some screamingly funny moments, e.g. Jonah Hill climbing out of the rubble late and saying "Mom?" Old white guy friends (SLIK RICK) of mine, who still support the former guy, all disliked the movie, doe.

It is meant to be the "pulp fiction" of politics in our time.
Capitalism and trending/polling drive all decisions which are made by a very select few,
who then spin the story as a benefit to all.
An allegory in every sense.

rewatch with that in mind, and you'll see the parodies, references, and twisted logic/anti-science in action.

I'll put my film critic hat on for a sec here. I think the parodies and references are pretty plain to see, which is the issue here. This is a satire with zero subtlety, cleverness, or wit of any type. They tried to cram as much social commentary as they could into this. They must think the audience has zero intelligence or any semblance of an attention span to serve everything up so heavy-handedly. It was so heavy-handed that it was stupid. To compare it to Pulp Fiction is an insult to Tarantino. The amazing dialogue and skill with which he wove the stories together is what made that move. Maybe he could have left a little on the editing floor (he's too in love with every scene he films), but its forgivable. For an A-list cast like this there was zero chemistry, predictable dialogue, with mailed in performances. The only character remotely amusing was the guy that was a combination of Musk/Bezos/Gates.

Edit: Don't Look Up and Matrix Resurrections were both crap December releases.

This is pretty damn spot-on!
He is saying the audience has zero brains as a social commentary. Looking around, what other possible conclusion can we draw?
(both about the film and the general population)

Or it just could be poor film making - like you said 😀

I like LetterKenny - i just got a much lower bar. 😉

Yet, it has a 7.3 rating on IMDB.
