This Thread Blows - C19 and beyond

Where did you get this information? Our district, South Plainfield, has not called it, yet. I'm sure it's inevitable but I haven't seen a statewide closure, yet.
IDk, but PA closed all schools

the only proxy we have is confirmed. not individual tests, or tests administered.
we know the number of people that have it is higher than the number confirmed.

so sure, more tests per day = more confirmed but they are doing more tests because more people need to be tested - not just because the test became available (which is kinda true also)

use 4 days as the time-to-double the cases.

Italy is a couple weeks ahead of us, they added 2,200+ yesterday.
they were at 10,000 - so if nothing changes it will be 20,000 in 3 days.
40,000 4 days after that. but they locked down the country - so look for it flatten
before then.

the biggest challenge is that people think linearly. That is how time goes by,
and mostly how we move around. It isn't a linear problem.

consider moore's law. every 18 months processors double their speed, and memory size
is cut in half. this seems linear when stated, but it is exponential. this is why there are
such bold predictions on AI and autonomous weapons. The logical conclusion is that the weapon will learn to defend itself.

So many variables here it's difficult to model. How do you take into effect population density - we are an order of magnitude lower than the other countries with big numbers so far. Also, Dr Brix just said S Korea testing found a 4% positive result, 96% negative, and in the US from Labcorp/Quest, they are finding 2% positive.

We’re all sorry you feel that way. Costco has men’s diapers - tremendous, beautiful diapers- if you continue to experience these symptoms.

Me? Go back and look at what you've written, its all there in black and white. My bowel movements are not out of fear.

it doesn't matter - it is a virus - yes it can't grow exponentially forever - it runs out of people.
it is a sigmoid, but our actions will flatten it before it naturally flattens from the boundary conditions.
besides - it was just fed into the mid-atlantic region with 60m people. no shortage of hosts here. And plenty of 'i do what i want' types too.

don't make me find the paper on why rabbits and fox can live in the same place....😀

I'm just guessing🙂

What school are your kids in? Middle School?

SAT testing cancelled for this weekend.

@Captain Brainstorm - i just got a message from the head official for central nj that the track season is to be considered in jeopardy, but it has not been cancelled.

If they cancel school and other sports, how are they not going to cancel this? Our junior track is already on hold. My wife is going to send out workouts, but the kids can't train together. Sucks for the high-school kids in track and other sports who are working hard for sports scholarships. Going to take my kids out for their cut-down runs now.

They are leaving it open for now - my guess is they'd just push out the conference/county/region/state championship meets - all the others will not happen.
never liked the relay or invitational meets anyway. they have eliminated almost all dual/double dual meets.

For the ppl in the back (i.e.ME) ...this is a virus. It pretty much just needs to run its course and hospital visits are reserved for extreme cases of respiratory issues. Just try to keep the fever down, drunk fluids, avoid urrbody and see a doctor (not in that order)

I seem to be missing where it says how long it sticks around and if that varies on a person to person basis.

I just dropped in to note I coined this:
“When the shit hits the fandemic”
Feel free to use it

Also I plan on using the time I’ll save by not commuting to make a scrapbook of @Patrick’s posts.
It’s going to be his Christmas present- don’t tell him.

They should be soon, Piscataway just got an email. They're using a Snow Day on Monday and then go to an Online Format starting Tuesday for 2 weeks.

Unrelated, in 7 years, I've never seen more people walking around outside in Summit. Not even during National Night Out or during the Street Fair. It's almost like the streets are closed there are so many people outside.
