I'm still undecided how I feel about the "patina." I wore my watch daily in the shop for 11 years. Banged it so hard, so many times off of so many sharp objects I can't remember. Still looks great. However, I hear that from Omega it will come back looking essentially new. That would be nice until the first scratch.
