Watches

Sweet!!! Looking forward to seeing a pic of it, definitely an underrated model
I'm looking forward to it too. Underrated indeed. I've always liked it because it kinda goes against the grain and if you know me you'd know if there's a grain I will be going against it. The fact that so many just aren't into it makes me want it even more. I can't believe I waited all this time for it and now that it's here I still have to wait over a week before I can get my grubby little hands on it.

Well this is a first. I'm on vacation at the moment and as I was paying for something at one of the shops one of the sales associates noticed the watches on me and my wife's wrists and asked us about them. I have never had anyone approach me about the watch I'm wearing. I'm thinking maybe it's because I usually wear long sleeves and have my watch tucked under the cuff so nobody can see them but today I was wearing a short sleeve.

Was it unique?

Wearing my Omega in the shop all the complements I received were from total watch geeks. They all knew more about it than I do.

Anyone have recommendations for places (local or website) to sell low-mid range watches? Think Movado or Michele as examples, purchased for $600-$1500 new.

The only places I can think of is FB Marketplace or even here in the For Sale section under Non-bike related section. Maybe even eBay if you have an account. Places like resellers or even pawn shops only buy luxury watches that are well above that price range you mentioned.

Thanks @tonyride I've already unloaded the Rolexes etc to my jeweler, he wasn't interested in these, to your point...these are the "others".

I finally got my dad's Hamilton back! And just in time for Father's Day.

Along with a full decon to remove corrision, it got a new, original quartz movement. It was easy to source as they were used in a bunch of Swatch Group watches over the years. New gaskets and crown. He couldn't source a new crystal but he polished 99% of the defects out of the original one. It looks great and should last a good long time!

This is definitely an heirloom you can hand down.

I meant to post this last month.

My big investment. I've been considering a simple field watch as a DD. Most look a little too small on my wrist (under 40mm). And, frankly, my eyes aren't getting any younger.

36, 38mm models were too small. Timex Expedition 40/41 and 43mm were nice but the brass cases were very heavy.

This one is an Amazon China special. 42mm quartz with date. $9.99 plus $12 for the replacement QR strap. I also bought the silver case/black face one and put a Bond style strap on it.

If they last 6 months, great. Then I'll find something worth spending a few dollars on if I still like the style. And these are keeping good time! About 20 seconds a month.

If that's what a 42mm looks like on your wrist then a 38mm is definitely too small.

I'll argue Field Watches are the only style that look good.

Go with 47/48mm size, Titanium bezel. Multiple bands.
