Waway Wrap Up

you always looked so dam relaxed when your racing, even with mud on your face you have a smile!
GREAT JOB!😀

Heh, I had a great time on this course. Fun fun.

There's also a good vibe with the other riders, wind up chatting with lots of people out on the course and everyone is really cool whether passing or being passed.

For example, at the check-in, I didn't have my USAC license 'cause I signed up a few days ago, and I also didn't have $5. A guy next to me simply shoves a $5 bill in my hand and says have a great race.

Thats awesome Kush. My wife noted that she was surprised by the people she met at the race. I think MTBrs from the outside looking in get a bad rap but we met a ton of really great people today and had a ball just spectating and taking pictures. My wife commented that you were the only rider we saw come through besides Mare with a big smile. 😀

nice...pay it forward.

people were nice i actually would say sorry/excuse me to people for passing them after 😱n your left\right". don't know why😕 or at one point i was nice and smooth through the first rock garden, i heard a rider behind me and then i started to think about what i was doing, put the front wheel in to a rock and stalled us both i felt real sorry about that but it happens i guess.

the cat3 had a bit less of a intense feel. it seemed like we were all just racing the clock and not really each other. im still real siked about the race and can't get it off my mind. had a blast

I did similar in a rock garden...stalled out & killed the momentum of the guy behind me. I waved him by & told him that since I made him have to dismount it was the least I could do.
I was racing myself & the trail, not him anyway. I did pass him back a bit later though 😀.

I am actually still so wound up & happy that I might have a hard time sleeping tonight. What an awesome event...amazingly organized & run. I even loved it when at the start for Cat3 30-39 the starter reminded us all that we had mortgages to pay 🙄.
Thanks too to folks on here who encouraged those of us who were first timers, and eased our nerves before-hand. MTBNJ is awesome!

beginner sport and some expert captured

can't wait to get some...your photographers were in some real good spots and snapped some good pics i bet. prob got a few of me in lycira that will make the best sellers list

I really liked the redesigned start/finish area! I didn't finish in time to see the pros/Cat 1's take off, but if I had, I wouldn't have been in the way!

dude you in lyca :scared: there is not enough electro-shock....
great job today man....

Did you guys get any rain? We got hammered down South.

Some.

Cat 3 was pretty much dry.

Cat 2 it started to come down a bit. Not terrible, but things got greasy.

Cat 1/pro pretty much had the worst of it.

Niiiiice...

It was awesome to see so many people out there today despite the wet weather!! Seems like a bunch of the Cat2 guys made out very well, Freddy and Tj had good rides and looked super-strong!! I think Normy got on the podium as well? And Tyler!! And anyone else? I didn't get to see everyone finish because I had to get ready🙁

I actually really enjoyed this course. The rock gardens seemed much easier this way around? I also of course enjoyed the extra bit of climbing this way as well. Good course design!! Thanks Black Bear!!

A very late move in the race, like 2 1/2 hours in, put me in a spot to take my first Cat1 win. Did you know you could win over 100 bucks in a Cat1 race? Neither did I until I opened my envelope!! THANK YOU AGAIN BLACK BEAR!!😀

-Jim.

Nice job Jimmy!

Before the expert/pro race I think we had 6 MTBNJers on the podium.

Great time today. The muddier it got the more "interesting" it got. I had 2 steady laps and finished 15th in cat 2 40-44. Looking forward to seeing more of the pics.

I took first in Cat 3 30 - 39. I was pretty happy considering it was my first race. Maybe I should just quit now and go out a winner. naaaaah...
I guess a few more podiums and I would have to move of up to Cat 2.. too bad cause those guys looked faaaast.
