dose anyone know what all the ribbons and arrows are for , was there an event this past weekend or left from something else?

I rode there yesterday and saw the arrows on Laurel Pond, starting at the furnace and all the way to top of Wingdam. When I was riding at 4pm-ish there were still a few people running, so whatever event there was it didn't finish until late

according to the race site the cutoff is 36 hours so they could still be out there...

I saw one arrow on sitting bear today and that was about it. I didn't go up laurel pond or wingdam. I did go plymouth, banker, wall, mojo, hemlock, load, pickle, tombstone, rattlesnake timber, south end, sitting bear and double pond. All of those were clear.

I can speak for the reasons of closing Red Dot trail. When I was out last week clearing blowdowns I came across a dangerous tree along the trail. It's a 70' tall dead tree, split at about 5' up to another 20' or so. If the wind blows the right way and someone is in the area it will kill someone. It's best to let nature take it down.
has there ever been any follow up with this? trail has been closed for 4 months now. if we're leaving it up to the park to monitor we may as well just say it's permanently closed because they're never going to check on it.

otoh, if the tree has survived for 4 months of storms and weather unfelled, was it really that dangerous in the first place?

i ask because 1. it bothers me to see trails closed, especially for so long and 2. i happen to know as absolute fact that a decent number of people continue to ride it regardless of closure status

That plymouth one is new. Wasn't there on Tuesday. Btw, we should get a trail maintenance day together and fix those bridges. They are starting to move as well. The one on banker has been for a few months and its just keeps getting lower. I like to think of it as a game now.

well i'll answer my own question because as of saturday 10/11 all of the tape and signage has been removed, so it's open once again. i wasn't brave enough to ride it because it's never in good condition even when it wasn't closed for 4 months, but it's open...

Did a big loop today. Noticed Porcupine is now a blazed trail along with Mojo Swamp and Hemlock and Load. Tree down on new section of Timber see map and photo. I did clear a few larger limbs and small trees throughout.
