what do you read?

I've gone down a rabbit hole with Cold War planning, operations, fail-safe systems, distant early warning systems, command and control, and political science.

The Doomsday Machine by Ellsberg
Red Alert by Bryant

If you enjoyed Doctor Strangelove, these are up your alley @Robin and real and scary.

The Silent Patient and Small Great Things. Both solid if not a little predictable.

I'm halfway through Hero of Two Worlds about Lafayette. Very interesting read and I don't hate the French as much. So far.

I think my wife read this for a book club. I just placed a hold on it for the audiobook.
Idk if anyone else does Libby, but if so, do all your holds seem to come at once when you are in the middle of something else?1000001588.png

This was a random library grab and it’s pretty good so far. It’s about a woman who was abducted in the wilderness, super suspenseful and tough to put down.

Can find the audio book on Libby.... Just got The Woman though...
It’s a newer book so maybe there’s no audio version yet. The women was good, I need a break from the war stuff for a while but I do enjoy that genre.

Currently trying to get through Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon. It's a dense read.
Also reading How to Write One Song by Jeff Tweedy.

Just finished Dungeon Crawler Carl and picked up the second book. I think there's currently 7 books in the series with an eighth on the way. End of the world turns into a real life role playing game in dungeons built under the earth's surface with AI and run by an alien syndicate. Pretty good so far.

Bought strange houses from the local bookstore on a whim. It's pretty short, and I ended up finishing it in a day. I enjoyed it so I downloaded strange pictures from Anna's archive (I just can't bring myself to pay Amazon for Kindle books anymore. Now I typically download them for free and if I enjoyed them, I might buy them from a small book shop if I see them) before heading out on vacation. Finished that one up in a few days before getting back home. Both pretty good, quick and easy reads, with pictures, lol. The storylines aren't related at all. Think I liked strange pictures a little better.

I didn’t love Dungeon Crawler Carl. I read the first and then started the second but tapped out 50 pages in.

The Will of the Many was pretty good. I think the second book comes out soon.
