What have you done to your bike today?

Some chainline tweaking. Running a pretty weird setup. DH spindle with a 0mm ring so the chainline is way farther in than a normal Fat Bike.

Went in 2 spacers, see how that plays out.

By 0mm ring you mean a superboost chainring? I was thinking to use that setup on the Mukluk as it seems to always have some issue on the 11t cog using the regular RF boost chainring even with a 189mm spindle. The chain is also real close to the rubber even with 26" 80mm rims when mounting 4.8" HuDus...

Yeah, it's a super boost ring. I run a 151mm spindle. That picture is a 100mm rim with a 4.8, you can see daylight worth of clearance.

Just got it back from Tenafly Bike Shop. What an upgrade from the Marzocchi Z2 fork and Fox DPS shock. DVO has much better dampening in general. Truth be told, DVO tuned it for my weight and model.

The settings are perfect so far according to their manuals, extremely happy. By far the best aspect is the small bump sensitivity. Much more comfortable and controlled over the old stuff.

This is as much a confessional as anything...

I last put a chain on my cross bike about 3 months ago and have been training consistently. The shifting has been getting worse and worse, and there was a LOT of slack while backpedaling, so I figured I'd do a super deep clean and sort everything out.

1. One of the jockey wheels was pretty jammed up. On closer inspection, there was a burr in the plastic of one wheel which kept jamming. I ordered a new set and was able to file down the burr in the meantime. Spins reasonably well for now.

2. On closer-closer inspection, I realized that the chain was threaded improperly. It went around the cage and not between the jockey wheel and the cage. Jesu Christo! Three months! Re-routing solved the other issues, but I also ordered a new chain as the damage to this one cannot be unfucked. The rest of the drive train appears reasonable.

3. Clean, lube. Pray that my imbecility takes a nap.

Did DVO setup the settings for both fork
and shock?

Lol.

Less common than mounting tire errors, but still a favorite of mine.

(If I lined up the valve stem with the logo, the tire is probably on backwards, if I mis-aligned the stem/logo, it’s on correct direction).

Yes they did but I didn’t pay extra for the custom tuning which is an add on charge. They informed me that their “custom tuning” service is for riders that don’t fall in the average. IE, very light, very heavy, or special tuning needs. They setup everything based on my weight and frame which was all included in the purchase price.

After one ride it feels pretty damn good and very dialed in. Tenafly setup the fork/shock up perfectly to DVO’s specs giving me softness with the small bumps and excellent mid support. Very happy and achieved my goal (off the top suppleness which I have full control over now…).

I don’t think I am going to change any of the settings because DVO nailed it IMHO.

Hope this answers your question or at least helps…
