What have you done to your bike today?

New wheels, rotors, cassette, and went tubeless, been collecting all the parts for months waiting for the wheels to come in.

Finished up this build…in the last couple days, did the following:

Installed a Raceday 2 3-position damper on the SID
Installed crank, pedals
Installed brakes, cut hoses & bled.
Size, cut & fit the chain.
Adjust derailleur/dial in shifting
Stole the cockpit from my hardtail.
Fit the foam grips…unfortunately ripped one & have to wait till Monday for replacement..
Installed Ergon SR Pro saddle
Stole the AXS dropper from my Izzo cause with the Twistloc there were just too many cables out front, lol.

Still need to test ride, bed in brakes, calibrate power meter…Adjust fit, saddle height, stem length etc…

Final weight as shown = 27.6lbs.

Could drop a bit more with lighter tires, dropper, maybe 2 piston brakes…also running a Vitoria Air liner light insert in the rear…but prob not gonna make that much of a difference.

Rear hub sound test:

Yesterday Gravel bike got new tires (again) and brake pads. Between MKF and Pinelands wet gravel rides these brake pads only lasted half the usual time. Back one was pretty bad lucky I didn’t mess up my rotor.

Road bike was at the shop for about 2+ weeks needed a bunch of stuff done since the right shifter finally blew up after 40K lifetime miles. I wanted to get di2 finally but I decided to try and piece together some parts off eBay and see how it goes. So for now it’s a new mechanical shifter. Then I’ll sell the Ultegra group set to recover some money I hope.

Then I washed the gravel and road bikes for the first time in probably months.

Not enough flux on here (or, really, I got lazy and didn't want to reapply it after I found a leak in my torch hose and needed to wait a week), but it survived.

The main piece is naval brass that I bought for another project, and had some left over (market value: somewhere north of $50-60 for the piece here). 1/2 hard brass rod for the loop, high silver content brazing rod.

It is machined to match the interlock step at the headset, and tapered to match the stem at the top, with about 1.25mm wall. Cost? ~50 grams heavier than the parts it replaced. I probably could have dropped 10g if I machined out more of the wall in the middle, but I couldn't find my dental caliper. I'm going to get a small length of dyneema cord, and replace the [frankly, fiddly] velcro straps.

Working on deferred maintenance. Where there's excessive cable movement (pivots), the bead housing cut into the liner. This is, to be fair, 4-5 years and 3 cables later.

Pulled the nuggets off, and ran them through the ultrasonic, then reassembled.

Messed around with some other stuff, too.

Other useless rainy day project:

Vented my shock mounting screws so my crankcase doesn't explode because it looks cool.

Lets be serious, it's not about weight at this point.

Incidentally, decided to play with the shock while I was at it. I apparently have enough stroke in the frame to use the shock at 62.5mm. Too bad the coils are 50 :]

My 2 year old double dart in my DHR finally started leaking so i swapped it out for an Aggressor (my preferred summer tire anyway). Will try to do an internal patch on the DHR since the tread is still decent.

Finally got around to installing that $20 Specialized Purgatory tire i picked up from HB when it was on super sale a while back. Put it on the front of my Ragley Marley HT bc the DHF didn't quite match with the micro knobby Bontrager SE2 in the back. Hopefully i'll get to see how this less aggro tire rides this weekend.
