What's in the Bag: Trail Ride Edition

@jShort

How do you like the Hydrapak bottle in regards to ability to clean it?

I wanted to get one of those specifically for drink mixes (Scratch etc) so I'm not screwing up my pack bladder.

@mattybfat what’s this hip pack Jeremy speaks of?

Matty got a kick back when like 20 of us bought them in the winter or spring. I wear mine for NICA and it feels good.

I just use a normal bottle cleaner brush, soap and hot water and it seems to work well. I don’t let it get too funky.

I emptied out my bag and tool roll.

I carry a lot of crap with me, although way back in the day I used to carry a spare derailleur, so...

The upper pile: TP in a bag (definitely a must-carry as I get older 🥴), pump, patch kit, Leatherman, Swiss Army Knife, snake bite kit (probably obsolete), Dart, CO2 x2, two tubes, spare derailleur hangers for the Spot, Megatower and something else I don't remember.

The second pile all fits into an old Park multi tool "kit" from 20+ years ago. Chain tool, valve core tool, Wolf Tooth quick link tool (that I just realized I need to change the spare link in), bacon strips and tool, spare tubeless valve, 1/4" hex driver extension with T30 bit, 1/4" hex driver ratchet, assortment of hex bits, tire boot.

Weight of both piles: 3 lbs, 3 oz.

1 thing I see most of you are missing from you kit is money!!
I carry a 1 dollar bill for tire tear repair and a 20 dollar bill for emergencies, like a beer.
There's always a bill of some denomination in my minimalist wallet. Along with my DL and medical insurance card, sometimes the debit card as well. Road ID on my wrist .

Cash in phone case, behind phone. This is handy on & off the bike. Who actually carries cash in their wallet anymore?

I carry my wallet, so I have cash, license, etc. This is as much for identification in case something happens when riding.

Cash is something I stopped bringing since I ditched the road bikes dangle bag. But there have been many times I wished I had some - gotta start throwing a baggie with some into my jersey pocket
