When do they start to buy the dip?

I only like to buy at the peak of the market and have long term losses to carry forward for life.

This volatility has me spooked. I’m waiting on the sidelines. I’m not trying to time the market but I have some capital I’m waiting to work with. Still dollar cost averaging through all of this. I’ve taken some hits but still beating the markets so fund managers I’m with are so far making me happy.

I've been sitting out too. But watching us loose the cost of my son's education over a couple of weeks has me a bit concerned. I figure if we buy now, by the time he is graduating from college we "should" have made enough back to be even.

I think we will have a 10-12% rally soon but maybe not before hitting 2250 on sp. i got stopped out this week but am still mega short bonds. This time is different. This is what it looks like when the rich get poorer. Unfortunately the poor get poorer to. I think now we have lost like $26 trillion off the workd markets in under two months.

I'll just throw out there that I assume we'll see more volatility/dropping over the next year, but I'm going with Time in the Market over Timing the Market. My previous comment was not "I'm counting this as the bottom" but I think it's an opportunity.

As long as we don't have a Japanese style lost decade (Not unlikely. Aging population and other factors) should be OK.

if you are buying buy in small increments
Long run will make out good

trade only what you can loose and won't miss

I also can't resist the small day trade but I monitor them closely.

OTOH, I bought some ETH positions because if this downturn continues well into 2019... which 'I THINK' it will... cryptos will gain again.

I think cryptos are heading toward zero despite the charts looking very readable. I am long right now in FAS and short bonds. This is short term. Looking for a bounce to 2600-2615.

crypto is a confidence play?
heading to zero.

there will be an extension to common currency that is crypto - that will make it work. but it will be governed by standard currency speculation.

the previous scenario could be broken down into

"hey, let's call this money"
"ok"
......

the tech has value.

it has to support a physical currency, and then transition. ie USDV$ (virtual us dollar) - it can have all of the same benefits of physical money,
like anonymity, and be banked. I'm not sure about the concept of a deposit account - which is never anonymous. maybe it just hangs in a wallet, and
virtual banks that don't track appear and become appealing?

there is no way to create a stable currency based on the faith of the currency holders.
way the hell back they used rocks that were only sourced from one place, so if a barter arrangement was not in balance, they could reconcile.

guess it still applies.

Any buyers? I bought an AAPL $157 march put and NFLX 260 and immediately made a profit but now with AAPL news I think I sold too early at the open yesterday. I did nab 50 AAPL after hours at $146.25 for a quick trade. This may be knife catching however. Not recommended.
